I love 58 Chevy’s…one of my favorite cars. An old shot that I was able to salvage because of my editing skills improving. Needless to say I am happy I was able to! Now generally as a rule of thumb, I would KO the powerlines, but this time I left them in intentionally. Why? Well I started to KO them then went back, after noticing that without them, the telephone pole is just kinda strange and they add a sense of perspective in this shot. Processed with Photoshop, LucisArts, Virtual Photographer, about 7 layers, and custom color retro actions using curves. —-—-—-—-—-- / More of my work can be seen on my website at http://jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. I suppose you can say I have always been a sucker for old cars, especially Hotrods. There is something about the design and style of the years gone by, that todays designers in the automotive world have lost…the subtle curves of the body line, the way the trim fits along the body, and the overall composition and style….rolling sculpture. Elegance and style which is no longer created by the manufacturers but now recreated by those who spend many a late night out in the garage building a Kustom, wielding the torch, throwing the lead, and hammering the seams. Art it one of it’s most purest forms. Creativity personified. This is quite an older shot but remains one of my favorites, the color in this and the reflection caught my eye when I first captured it. I am not a huge fan of tri-year Chevy’s, but this ‘56 was just to good to pass up. Hope you all like it as much as I do / —-John / —-—-—-—-—-—-—— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Flames are HOT!
Like waiting for judgement say, there they stood, in all their glory….40s era Fords, Oldsmobile’s, Pontiac’s, Chevy’s….awaiting the rodders touch to be sculptured in lead, and reincarnated into a new life as a hotrod. Sadly, as much as I love this place, it is now forever gone. I did many shoots at Classical Gas in Eaton, Colorado….and now it is just a memory….it is forever closed as the owner has recently passed away. I was lucky enough to have been here as often as I could…preserving it forever with my camera. And while it is an older shot, it seems just like yesterday I was standing there taking this….time stands still…...much as it did for the classic 40s Detroit iron….... Thoughts welcomed, print to come. Processed with PS, DCE HDR, and LucisArt. —-—-—-—-— See more on my website jdebordphoto.com
My second rendition of this shot…..I will miss this place as it has now closed down…sad….at least I was able to capture it while I could. HDR and LucisArt used in processing John
Captured on an Indian Reservation in New Mexico, I have always loved 49-51 Ford Coupe’s…rare, they make one of the best Kustoms ever…and if I coulda found the owner and had a tow truck, I would have towed this all the way back home to Colorado with me! What a scene…...processed in HDR…thoughts welcomed!
When Mercury made some of the badest cars around, when the lines were designed and Chrome reflected it’s wonderful colors. When Rock & Roll was just being born, and tailfins were the norm. Welcome to the Montclair Timewarp! HDR processed, selective vignetting, custom retro color curves, selective dodging and burning. All I can say is that I am ordering a 24×36 print for my wall! I love how this one came out! Thoughts welcomed!
Old folks enjoying an afternoon drive in their 1931 Ford. Image redone in LucisArt.
This is the Chrome grill from the auto in this series called Pinkie from my show called OldBoyToys a look at the autos of a collector. As you can see the grill back in the 1930 to 1970s were a work of art in its self often the reason a person would by a car was to have this grill as a symbol of who they were! It was quite striking to see something as bright and as bold come at you in the night blazing with full headlights reflecting off of its front bumper!
Can’t seem to get away from the Vintage theme … !!! This is a wonderfully restored Bedford truck we found at the Maroota Muster on the weekend (Maroota is on the way to Wiseman’s Ferry, rural north fringes of Sydney Australia). Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM
Another vintage abstract. This reflective black temptation from luxurious Buick. was captured in my recent visit to Auto Expo 08 in my city, Pune. It was a painstaking experience to work with this black vintage as I had to work against so much unwanted and disturbing reflections, including my own 8-) I came out with this one after flattening and polishing most of ‘em :) Captured from my ultra wide angle lense. I was just off the RB for last few days, so didn’t caught the action and missed all my friends. Presenting another vintage poem with some curves, curls, reflection and cool color. Here again I just tried to bring some life to this vintage beatuty with refreshing color using Hue and saturation tool.
