40km round trip walking, 3 days waiting – One image. The quiet little patch of beach that is Little Waterloo Bay isn’t the worst space I’ve had to wait for the light !
A happy mistake, a daylight savings miscalculation saw me up many hours before sunrise – I shot this image in the twilight with a 4 min exposure.

Every ship of any significant size comming through ‘the rip’ entrance to Melbourne’s bay takes on board a pilot, these brave folks go out in any weather, come along side big ships and then climb a ladder to go aboard. Tough gig ! This day would have been pretty nice though !
