  • Photo based mixed medium image. Cryptic signs, goat and door.

  • Water based oils on canvas This Painting has been channelled as a vibrational tool for healing and alignment much like the crop circles. It raises the vibration for those viewers or those in close proximity due to the energy wave field it creates. This painting in particular is concerned with the new polarity of the Earth and so our own individual shifting polarities. At this time more than any other we have the capacity to feel great despair, emptiness, extreme discomfit and completely out of time and balance. We experience this in our relationships, our work our financial situation etc. Things that were once normal…no longer seem right. This is because our polarities are shifting along with mother Earths polarity. We can call them growing pains…..... into ascension.

  • Weird Creatures and Photoshop Transform Tools
    by Julie Langford

Ok, so here is how I used the Edit transform tools in Photoshop to create / / Wiseman / !http://images-2.redbubble.com/img/art/cropped/...

Ok, so here is how I used the Edit transform tools in Photoshop to create / / Wiseman / and Fish Monster / / / Have loads of fun and be creative – things just appear right before your eyes using this method. / / 1. Open Photoshop and create a new transparent document 3200 high by 2400 wide [you can post a Tshirt with these dimensions as well as an art piece]. / / 2. Create a new layer and fill the bottom layer with solid black [you will need this dark background to see what you are doing later]. / / / / 3. Working on the top, tranparent layer – draw a random shape using the pen tool [create smooth curves by clicking and dragging, until you get back to your first point to close the path]. / / / / 4. Down on the bottom right click on the Paths tab on the layers palette. At the bottom of the palette, click on the convert to selection icon [shown in red below] – this will convert your path to a selection. / / / / 5. Fill this selection with a multicoloured gradient [or two colours of your choice]. / / / / 6. Click on Edit [up the top], then on Free Transform. This puts a border around your selection so that you can resize it. hit enter when you are happy with the resize to apply it. Then use the move tool in the toolbar on the left to move it to the centre of your canvas. / / / / 7. Back in the bottom right Layers palette, click back onto the layer tab. Duplicate the top layer [right click it and click duplicate]. / / 8. Working on the top layer again, click Edit, Transform, rotate. This puts a border around your image and allows you to drag the corners to rotaate the layer. Rotate it enough so that it moves slightly away from the layer beneath [see below]. Hit enter to apply the rotation. / / / / 9. Repeat the layer duplication and rotate until you have about 6 layers – keep the rotation reasonably uniform. / / / / 10. In the layers palette, click the top layer, hold ctrl on the keyboard and click all the other layers – except the bottom, black layer. This will highlight [select] them all. Once selected, righ click them, and click on merge layers. You will now have two layers in the layers palette again. A black layer [at the bottom], and a new layer with your rotation work above it. / / 11. Working on the top layer, click on Edit, transform and warp. this puts a grid over the image, which you can drag in multiple places and directions to completely change the appearance of your image. Work with this until you have a long warped shape like below. hit enter to aply the warp efect. / / / / 12. Repeat the whole process again, duplicating and rotating the layers until you have something like the image below. / / / / 13. Select all the layers except the black layer again and merge them. [youre now back to two layers again]. / / 14. Duplicate the top layer again, move it away from the other layer on your canvas. Warp it so that it is longer and thinner than the original layer that you duplicated [see below] / / / / 15. Click Edit, Free Transform to resize it. / / / / 16, Rotate it and place it over the other layer on your canvas. In the layer palette, drag the long thin layer to underneath the other layer, so that it appears underneath it in the platte [and on your canvas]. / / / / 17. Select both layers [but not the black layer] and merge them. / / 18. Click on image [up the top], and then on rotate canvas, then on 90 degrees CW. Duplicate the top layer, then click on Edit, Transform, then flip horozontally. Now move this new layer over until it lies side by side to the other layer. Select both layers [but not the black layer], and merge them. / / 19. Working on the top layer, click layer up the top, and then New, and then Layer. Draw an oval selection using the circular marquee tool in the eye area, and fill it with white. / / / / 20. Duplicate this layer and drag it over using the move tool to cover the other eye with a white oval. / / 21. Create another new layer, and use the paintbrush and black, and click once on each eye white to create pupils. Ctrl click all the eye layers in the layer pallette and merge them. / / 22. Working on this eye layer, click the word Layer [up the top], then Layer style, then Inner shadow. Apply the settings below to give your eyes life. / / / / 23. Click on the black layer in the layer palette, then click on Layer, new layer up the top to create a new layer above the black layer. / / 24. Use the Polygonal Lasso tool and draw a shape within your image for a beak [see below]. / / / / 25. Fill this selection shape with a dark grey to yellow gradient [top to bottom]. / / 26. Still working on this beak layer, click on Layer [up the top], layer style, Inner Shadow, and use similar settings to when you did the eyes to give depth the the beak. / / 27. Crtl click all the layers except the black layer and merge layers. You are now back to two layers – one black, and one with your image above it. It will look something like the image below. / / / / To save your image to post as art on a black background, go to file, save as, and save as a jpeg. This will merge and flatten the work. / / To save your work to post as a Tshirt, first, click the eye icon next to the black layer in the layer palette to make it disappear – your black background will become invisible. Now go to file, save as, and save as a png file. / / Voila – you have created a critter using transform tools in Photoshop. / / You can also use this method with parts of photographs, like I did with Fish monster. Try all sorts of things to get neat effects – a spoon, as nail, a scewdriver even. / / Most importantly, transform, transform, duplicate and transform some more – the more you use, the better your results will be. / / Have fun! /

  • I posted a photograph of a Great Horned Owl a few days ago for a challenge, in commentary I asked Way of the Warrior if he could do his ‘magic touch’ on it and the collaboration began… / He did 4 beautiful edits with the 2 photos I sent him and this was my favorite! WindOwl is my ‘handle’, spirit name and who I aspire to be… / The Wind is a force of Nature, air in natural motion – an influential force or trend that touches everything in its path, sometimes a gentle breeze and other times, as a hurricane. / The Owl is a bird of prey, long associated with wisdom and truth, honoring intuition, using discernment, outsmarting deception and trusting first impressions. / Together, my intentions are ultimately aspiring to help others transition and transform into who they aspire to be… The Three Faces of Owl / The wisest of the bird clan, awakening to honor Grandfather Sun – then sleeping, while Mother Nature unleashes her wondrous glory, upon unseeing eyes and broken promises, from the gray matter, we Humans call Truth. Awakening once more to honor Grandmother Moon and discover the darkness is only feared by those afraid of their Self. tkrosevear Thanks to Tony for helping me to re-defining my intentions and Salute the Pack!

  • All profits from purchasing this work will be donated to the Wildlife victims of the Victorian bush fires. I associate to the images I create. Looking at what I perceived as holes in this figure’s chest, I thought about all the wounded souls seeking recovery and compassion in our chaotic world. Since that is a very global subject, I thought of focusing on one of my favorite and prolific writers, Linda Leonard whose latest book is “The Wounded Woman.” Her book, “Meeting the Madwoman” is a richly evocative study by Leonard, a Jungian analyst who posits the existence of a madwoman archetype. The image appears frequently in women’s dreams, according to Leonard ( The Wounded Women: Healing the Father and Daughter Relationship ). She makes a good case that the madwoman is a messenger, metaphor and model who points the way to women’s liberation. The author encourages women to acknowledge their own madwoman in order to transform themselves. She intriguingly redefines many female stereotypes-The Dark Muse, The Recluse, The Bag Lady, The Visionary, The Caged Bird-in relation to the archetype. What is especially interesting here are the examples from famous women, literature, films and Leonard’s own patients. The most remarkable include Camille Claudel, Alma Mahler, Maria Callas, Rosa Luxemburg and Rachel Carson—as well as the imaginary Medea, Mrs. Bridges, Blue Angel and Thelma and Louise. Leonard also shows how some of the real women she writes about were influenced by the fictional or mythical women. In this work, she provides a new perspective on how women can break out of culturally imposed roles. She believes that feminine madness entraps women in traditional, patriarchal roles, keeping creativity captive to repressed anger and fear. / Leonard uses more examples than theorizing to make complex Jungian concepts understandable, accounting for her readability and popularity. / Her understanding of feminine psychology is a revelation to men and an / inspiration for woman. It encourages all of us to break the bitter cycle. What is important is that her intent is not to separate the sexes, but to chart paths toward psychological transformation to promote fulfilling and caring relationships that honor the mutuality and the uniqueness of the sexes. / Please view this in the large format. • My Cherokee grandmother often visits me in my dreamtime, last evening as the Full Moon approached, her bright pulsating light approached me in my dreams. / There was an intensity that I had not previously noticed within the beating light energy she presents with and her voice was strong. “WindOwl”, she said, “You and your fellow beings will witness the great transformation. It is reshaping the human consciousness and it will be larger than the genesis of humanity. You have seen, in the past few generations, every human experiencing more than their five senses can detect. Their understanding of themselves and their experiences are changing dramatically, as they sense themselves as more than they thought they were, more than bodies and minds, more than accidents in a random universe of inert – dead matter. Everything is an expression of Life, a form of Life – there is nothing but life and we are Life. / With this transformation comes new potential as well as new experiences, a new way of evolving as well as a new way of experiencing ourselves, and a new understanding of power. This new way of evolving is spiritual growth. The old species evolved through survival, now this will not be sufficient. We will long for more than existence, something more significant, for the reason we were born. We will long to touch meaning and purpose and to live them. This new way of understanding power will align our personality with our souls. The old way was through manipulation and control, now counterproductive and producing only violence and destruction. The new potential is the Universal Human, beyond nations, religions, races, sexes and economics – citizens of the Universe whose allegiance is to LIFE.” Her voice paused and she instructed me to breathe deeply, then she continued, “My child, you are to assist in the creation of authentic power, to contribute to the new species that we are becoming by providing support, love and tools that help illuminate the differences between the frightened parts of the personality and loving parts of the personality, revealing opportunities to challenge, cultivate and chosse intentions, consulting intuition and trust the Universe. Teach all you know to experiment with creativity, following your healthiest impulses and use your life consciously and constructively.” Her voice faded, as she showed pictures in my mind of a child being born, a marraige experiencing conflict, the nations economic turmoil to a flower emerging and opening a new vision of interpersonal and social structures built on harmony, cooperation, sharing and reverence for Life. / This was a most beautiful experience that I will treasure today, tomorrow and always…whether a dream or reality, I will heed my Grandmother’s message from the other side and continue to share. / I am grateful to be sharing this journey with you. • From the Black Butterfly series. Portrait of DaHuang Zhou, charcoal on mylar drafting film with moonstone Canson backing paper, 18×18”. From a reference photo by Steven E. Gross. I am a member of the 33 Collective Gallery located in the Zhou Brother’s Art Center, Chicago. The Zhou Brothers have been generous to allow our co-op gallery to use the entire art center for our group show this month. The show opens Friday March 20th, 2009. The Zhou Brothers are always on hand at the center and are very supportive of the members of the gallery and of their artists in residence. I am fascinated with them, their persona, and their work and decided they would be perfect subjects to draw for my series, which always features creatives as models. DaHuang Zhou’s older brother Shan Zuo was the subject for the companion piece, “I Dreamed I Was a Butterfly”. The butterfly is borrowed from a Chinese watercolor design, and the Chinese symbols stand for “passion-enthusiasm” As noted in my earlier blogs, in this series the butterfly is symbolic of the artist’s muse. The title of this work comes from the closing verse of this Chinese literature by Zhuangzi – [Chuang-Tse] “One day about sunset, Zhuangzi dozed off and dreamed that he turned into a butterfly. / He flapped his wings and sure enough he was a butterfly… / What a joyful feeling as he fluttered about, he completely forgot that he was Zhuangzi. / Soon though, he realized that that proud butterfly was really Zhuangzi who dreamed he was a butterfly, or was it a butterfly who dreamed he was Zhuangzi! / Maybe Zhuangzi was the butterfly, and maybe the butterfly was Zhungzi? This is what is meant by the “transformation of things.” – Zhuang Zi (369?-286? b.c.) The Zhou brothers short biography: The Zhou Brothers are one of the most accomplished contemporary artists in the world today renowned for their unique collaborative work process. They always work together on their paintings, performances, sculptures, and prints, often communicating without words in a so-called dream dialogue. Their thinking, aesthetic, and creativity are a symbiosis of Eastern and Western philosophy, art, and literature that informed their development since early childhood. Their indomitable spirit allowed them to leave behind their brilliant success in China, where they were hailed as national heroes for their early work, to step onto the world stage. They have since achieved international acclaim while continuing to work in the West. The Zhou Brothers, Shan Zuo and DaHuang Zhou, were born in China 1952 and 1957 respectively. They studied drama and painting at the University of Shanghai from 1978 to 1982 and the National Academy for Arts and Crafts in Beijing from 1983 to 1984 where they received their MFAs. During the beginning of the 1980s they became leaders of the contemporary art movement in China. In 1985 they won the National Prize of the Chinese Avant-Garde of the Ministry of Culture and the Prize for Creativity from the Peace Corps of the United Nations. They were also honored as the first contemporary artists ever to show their work in an exhibition that traveled to the five largest museums in China, including the National Art Museum of China in Beijing and the art museums in Shanghai and Nanjing. Realizing that the political and cultural landscape at that time would not allow them to expand their careers, an invitation to exhibit in Chicago in 1986 presented a timely opportunity to make the transition onto an international stage. The Zhou Brothers have consequently maintained their home and studios in Chicago while actively exhibiting their work nationally and abroad.” Companion piece, portrait of DaHuang’s brother Shan Zuo Zhou:

  • As a personal journey of transformation continues to unfold, this “spinning wheel” that sits in our loft, takes on a whole new meaning as today for the first time I became a silent warrior… In the days of old, we spun sheep’s wool into yarn / to knit and weave for warmth and socks to darn Today, yarns are tales told with deceptive pride / as arrogant greed leads to superiority’s confide Threats full of fear with angry, envious undertones / as regretful voices of ego make sorrowful groans No feelings of inferiority as the truth rings in my ears / as the serenity and silence of light soon appears A benevolent nature to observe becomes a deep strength / as my voice remains silent with the lights’ wavelength A strategy of peace and a nonviolent stance / frustrates the angry opponent in this loving dance Guilt overtakes him, as I spin hopes’ energetic light / as a silent warrior of compassion, I will win this fight. tkrosevear 3/23/2009 The Buddha was the one who turned the wheel of dharma or ‘wheel of law’, in Tibetan tradition it is translated as the ‘wheel of transformation’. The wheels motion is a metaphor for the rapid spiritual change engendered by the teachings of Buddha. The wheel also represents the endless cycle of rebirth or samsara (sanskrit). Interestingly enough, another auspicious symbol of Buddhism – the hub symbolizing moral discipline, which stabilizes the mind and the spokes (usually 8) represent wisdom which is applied to defeat ignorance. The rim represents training in concentration, which holds everything else together. Dharma, literally translated means ‘that which upholds or supports’, while in Buddhist translations it means “higher truth” and/or “the ultimate reality of universe”. / The “WHEEL” in general, is one of the supreme symbols of cosmic momentum – the force that drives the planets and the stars – and of ceaseless change and repitition. Within all cultures, practices and beliefs this symbol is linked to the cycles of manifestation, birth, death and rebirth, the Zodiac, time and human destiny. Spinning Wheel

  • I always wanted to do a interpretation of one of the Tarot Cards or maybe even the whole deck sometime if I get the energy. Anyway I don’t know why I started with the death card it just turned out that way. Arcana, does not mean physical death. Rather, the Death card portrays symbolic death-a change or transformation. Often, it heralds the end of a familiar or more comfortable mode. It conveys a release which is necessary for growth and expansion. Perhaps it even brings a whole new set of principles which will guide you spiritually, emotionally, psychologically or financially. Joseph Campbell, author of A Hero with A Thousand Faces, describes times of personal change as periods when “The familiar life horizon has been outgrown; the old concepts, ideals, and emotional patterns no longer fit; the time for the passing of a threshold is at hand.” The sunrise depicted in the background of the Death card holds the promise of the transformation which is about to take place: the death of the old self, but also the dawning of a new day. The Death card is a cue that you are at a “threshold”-a crossing into a new phase, unbounded by the past.
