  • THE 6.59 TO... A short story by Anthony Hedger
    by Anthony Hedger

“You’re a bastard, John; I hope you rot in hell for what you’ve done to this family get out of my house and never come back.”

I wrote this short story (purely fiction I must add) a couple of years ago. It is a little longer than the collaborations I have been doing with other artists lately but if you like my work you may just like this. It has a theme running through it which you’ll recognise so I won’t spoil it for you here. Just read it with an open mind and enjoy it and if you want to comment on it after please feel free to. I do so appreciate what you have to say and want to thank you for taking the time to read it. / Anthony Hedger

  • The Dirrinbandi Mail
    by Terry Everson

“Two solid but decrepit wooden carriages…..” ” We careered through outer suburbia at a pace bordering on reckless…..” ...

This is a journey I took with three friends on a freight come passenger train from Brisbane to Dirranbandi. The train no longer runs now so it is a bit of history. We were the only three passengers for almost the entire trip. I hope you find my account of the journey a bit humerous.

  • Will ye no come back again?
    by Rosalie Dale IPA

Skirling pipes and rising mists take us back to Brigadoon . . .

One of the most captivating events I’ve ever attended is “Bundanoon is Brigadoon” in our Southern Highlands. The transformation of this village into a byegone era is successfully seductive. For a few hours you are entranced and transported back in time. Water fights, egg tossing, and all of the activities mentioned in the article remind us of delightful simple pleasures our society has left behind as ‘unsophisticated’. It is with greqat reluctance that one eventually leaves and returns to … dare I say the ‘real’ world?!! If I’d known I would be writing a piece about this event, I would have taken different shots! NEXT TIME I will be more prepared! _ FEATURED in Australian Travel Photography & Writing Group June 2009_

Small child standing on the platform alone

A collaboration and poem inspired by this image by Artmonger named Hinton Station. I tried to portray it through the eyes of a child left behind, no one he knows around him as they all left, nothing he knows and everything he feels. Hope you all enjoy it! Featured: The Beauty of Poetry – 14th June 09 On Youth – 14th June 09 Thank you so much to everyone that reads and features of favorites this poem! It really means alot!

  • Train Poem
    by Erika .

    will you still love me?

Inspired by Train Song which was originally sung Vashti Bunyan. There’s a new version of this song which is very beautifully sung by Feist and Ben Gibbard. I suggest you listen to both. It’s a short song, and very melancholic. This is definitely one of my favorite songs, and it’s been in my head for weeks now. So I finally decided to write a poem about it.

  • And the world fell down
    by Fiona Christensen

So now when you ask me how i am / with that mocking concern in your eyes / I paste on a smile / And tell you i’m fine

Today was bad day i guess… i was angry, and i am certainly not an angry person, i mean, i was even nominated as mIss sunshine becuase im always smiling but today, it just boiled over… People, people, people.... they can be so temperamental, zealous, competitive, hurtful, callous, fake and untrustworthy people and they all lay on the problems with me and sometimes, i just want to explode. They expect so much, isn’t what i give enough, what more can i give you when I’m already giving you my heart and soul?

  • Lorenzo's Oils (or Lorenzo's Painted Universe)
    by Matt Penfold

When cast upon this hostile shore / I didn’t lose my faith nor curse / This nutshell opened up for me / Lorenzo’s painted universe

I started writing short verses for a series of paintings: “Eighteen Images in Search of a Poet” by Lorenzo Castello. / If you haven’t seen the Tanka verses, also written for this series by Jane Solomon, they are well worth a read, as are a number of other lovely poems by various artists which you’ll find as comments on the images. / I decided to join my verses together as one long and semi-cohesive poem, the meter is not consistent because I wrote a number of these as stand alone verses and had already posted them as comments. I have tried to tie them in and I think it works after a few reads to get the rhythm sorted. I have also recorded it right here I’d like to thank Lorenzo for the inspiration and for permission to include his wonderful images here. • The Train Ride Home
    by SashaC

She lived for these moments / Of quiet happiness / Sitting in her silent contentment / For the train ride home.

I like to reflect a lot on life and I like to think of this as a “little slice of life”. It’s quite different to a lot of my other work; but then again they’re all very unique to themselves. I kinda like it, but I would really appreciate some feedback. Tell me what you think, please :)
