Traveling between National Parks near Moab, Utah, in the desert southwest of the USA, we crossed these railroad tracks. I liked the way the just went off into the solitary distance.

The fast disintegrating rail approach to Dead Bod Jetty buckles and writhes under the weight of it’s own ruination. Once freight trains would have steamed out to meet the unloading ships, or to bring cargoes for storage before export, on this wonderful old loop line that has both landward and seaward platforms straddling the warehouses out on the jetty. I would love to have seen it in action.

I was out doing a night shoot around the Kwinana industrial area last night with a group of Perth photographers. Had a great night, despite the night getting off to a wet start. There was a train unloading further up the track which everyone was hoping would come past to give us a good photo opportunity. The train didn’t come past till just about everyone had left, But those who stayed were rewarded with the train finally coming past giving those that had stayed what we had been waiting for. I was parked down at the railway crossing and shooting On The Tracks just before the train headed our way. EOS 500D.

This train was waiting for passengers at a local station in Slovenia. What a great old train. Nikon D3000 18-55mm VR Lens / Aperture Priority Mode / F10 / 3 Shots at -1, 0 +1 Exposures. / Blended with Photomatix and then edited in Lightroom and Photoshop CS4.
