For those who dont know what these lines are they are stars. / I set the camera on the B setting and leave the shutter open for upto 10 hrs. / As the earth rotates it gives you these lines.I do not recommend the use of digital cameras for taking startrails

The cabin of Carter Shields Place makes a beautiful autumn setting as it may of been around 1830 or 40’s.It’s location is on the Cades Cove Loop Road in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. It’s preserved by the Park Service and an example of early Appalachian structures.

Here is a dream request I created for mlgkats / Mel sent me a bubble mail in the past and told me she loves to dream of the stars. Thank you Mel for the opportunity to create this for you and I hope I did your dream justice. And for the record, the background of the star trail is real…it is one of my very first night star trails I’ve done and I couldn’t imagine creating this dream without the real thing.

Went down to the old Monash Freeway for a few light trails shots at dusk just 2 minutes from my house. I’ve always wanted to get some really cool light trails shots and this I was real happy with :) After looking at a few I wanted to do something a bit different with it. HDR done in Photomatix and went for a Direct Positive look in AdobeLightroom. Exposures were 13 seconds, 3.2 seconds and 30 seconds f 7.1 at ISO 100. Click here for my other images of Melbourne

“To better VIEW this Photo select VIEW LARGER“ HECETA HEAD LIGHTHOUSE,OR / In search of North America Lighouses i travel extencively every year to find peace and tranquility at the foot of these Outstanding landmarks that stands proudly for generations to enjoy. Lake Mungo and the earth spin under a cold cloudless winters night sky. This photograph was taken the night after a vigorous cold front crossed the region dumping over an inch in rain and storms – closing all roads to and from and the national park itself. more of my outback Australian photography can be seen at / the Aussie outback

This was my first attempt at long exposure star trails while backpacking through the Eastern Sierra Nevadas. Davis is one of my favorite lakes in the Sierras to photograph, even dispite the MILLIONS of misquitos that inhabit the many meadow ponds around the area. I was covered from head to toe except my hands to take pics, and ended up with almost 20 bites on each hand. f/3.5 10 mins ISO 200 ........ / All images are © Nolan Nitschke.
