A couple of nights ago Matt (of Disenchanted Photography ) and I spent a couple of hours in his garage with the intention of experimenting with lighting and off camera flash. / We actually ended up shooting smoke trails for four hours and had a ball! / The experimentation with flash position, ISO and shutter speeds was very beneficial and I got alot out of the shoot! :D / / Check out this journal / / / / Art Folders… / / Entire Portfolio / Born From This Earth – Series / Hearts At War / Vehicular works / Architecture / Travel / B&W Photography / Transitional Industrial Utopian Series / Abstract / Models and Fashion Photography
On my way home from the city wanted to capture the S curve in the Monash Freeway near East Malvern setup the tripod and aimed the camera through this bloody annoying fence, it was too high for my tripod so i had to zoom in a bit to miss the pailings. White Balance was tinkered with in Lightroom, 30 second exposure at f 11, focal length was was 37mm at ISO 100 Sales 1 Greeting Card Click here for my other images of Melbourne Click here for my other photos of the Monash Freeway

For those who dont know what these lines are they are stars. / I set the camera on the B setting and leave the shutter open for upto 10 hrs. / As the earth rotates it gives you these lines.I do not recommend the use of digital cameras for taking startrails

“End Of The Trail” is a signed, original, pastel and prismacolor pencil drawing. / Drawn on card stock, acid free, bonded no tooth artist drawing paper. / All of my drawings are sprayed with a final professional artist protective fixitive. The romance of the West, Southwest and the Cowboy is a subject I always return to. I live both in Colorado and in Nevada, so I have an endless supply of personal photography that I draw from for these drawings. I personally developed this sharp focus pastel and prismacolor pencil technique to make my drawings come alive. / My studio is located in Mesquite, Nevada. As with all of my artwork , my initials are on the front with full signature, title and date on back. / Thank you for viewing my art. / VIEW Susan’sGallery / VIEW Susan’sZazzle
Went down to the old Monash Freeway for a few light trails shots at dusk just 2 minutes from my house. I’ve always wanted to get some really cool light trails shots and this I was real happy with :) After looking at a few I wanted to do something a bit different with it. HDR done in Photomatix and went for a Direct Positive look in AdobeLightroom. Exposures were 13 seconds, 3.2 seconds and 30 seconds f 7.1 at ISO 100. “Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.“ John Muir Photo taken at Groton State Forest, Vermont, October 2008. My first star trail attempt. / While at the Grampians for a few days with family, Neil and I headed out to Lake Fyans after our sunset shoot to do some star trail shots. It was really peaceful and relaxing out there, very surreal. / Even though we were on hardly any sleep, finishing off at 1:30am, and having to be up at 5am the next morning, I think this was worth it. I’ll definitely be trying this again.
