Just keep on going.
This is an acrylic painting I did a couple of years ago in South Africa, now in my wife’s private collection :) Lets try to keep these amazing cats sleeping peacefully under the stars for as long as possible.

Tommy Carter’s (Drummer) Trad Jazz Band at work, Melbourne, Australia. / Tommy Carter ’s association with entertainment goes back many decades – from football commentating with Jack Dyer on 3XY, running a sports program on 3KZ, being a special football commentator on 3MP – to working in several Community Radio stations in recent years. / Back in the 60’s, Tommy conceived the idea for, and produced “The Battle Of The Sounds”, heard on 72 radio stations throughout Australia. / In the 50’s, Tommy and his bands were very much in the Melbourne 50/50 dance craze, playing at town halls and hotels. / Tommy has remained active with radio sessions for over 12 years with Casey Community Radio 3SER on 97.7 FM Monday & Thursdays, and now worldwide on the internet, and with his band playing every Sunday at The Baxter Tavern, Baxter. / In 1994, he was awarded The Order of Australia Medal “Service to the community”. / Last year, he was inducted into the Karingal Star Zone Walk of Fame for his service to Frankston City.
The same concert, the same energy except here Seán Keane is playing solo. He was completely into what he was playing even though the audience were sparse, he had absolutely no attitude after all these years and was just as passionate about playing here as Carnegie Hall. They were all fu#@ing great! 004 in a series “The Chieftains” all marked up at 25% except the large stage shot
Mouila is one of Kibabu’s hareem :) at Taronga. I am putting this pastel I did of her back onto redbubble, to celebrate the arrival of a baby gorilla at Taronga. Human indifference, ignorance and the taste for “Bush Meat” threaten these poor guys.
I did this pastel portrait of my good friend and neighbour, Jack – “Blue” had red hair as a youngster and so, with the inevitable Aussie humour, he was soon renamed :)
This pastel of me with my favourite four legged friend, resulted from one of our many visits to the Eastern Creek Quarantine Kennels, before our little furry friends were released from their 7 month incarceration. We visited them at least twice a week for an hour at a time. It was tough, but we are all now happily reunited. The green ball is a symbol for Dexter’s greatest joy in life, other than “Walkies” He loves to chase and fetch. It is his “X-Box” entertainment :)
Séan Keane the fiddle player of The Chieftains Irish trad band sits pensively during their gig in Mallorcas Casino Club. A complimentary gig held during Mallorcas wonderful Jazz Voyeur Festival in 2006. Colm Meaney and Caroline Corr were also present to see one of Irelands most enduring acts. 002 in a series “The Chieftains” all marked up at 25% except the large stage shot
The Chieftains again in Majorca. This time the charming, eccentric and enigmatic personality of the bands leader in thought. 003 in a series “The Chieftains” all marked up at 25% except the large stage shot
The lads giving it socks! The ever young Chieftains playing in the Casino in Mallorca 2006. 001 in a series “The Chieftains” all marked up at 25% except the large stage shot
As it says. They played a blinder despite the audience being thin on the ground. Mallorcans are not the biggest ticket buyers in the world, in fact there is so much on for free that they feel they need not bother. Pity it was a great Gig and after 44 years or thereabouts together colloborations with everybody and anybody including Van Morrison and the Stones the Chieftains are still putting their enthusiasm into every gig. 007 in a series “The Chieftains” all marked up at 25% except this stage shot which is 50%
When I saw the bear theme on the front page, I decided to upload one of my favourite pastels. The ref pic was taken at the Johannesburg Zoo, in South Africa and the background was invented :) With permanent ice sheets retreating and habitat being reduced, I felt I had at least immortalised this guy in a landscape which he would no doubt prefer to be in.
An acrylic painting I did in 2002. In certain lights it looked almost as though it would swim right out of the pic and into the lounge :) I used an airbrush, for the first time to get the light beams effect. He is a Johannesburg zoo polar bear in real life, or should that be “unreal” :( Climate Change has already made huge inroads into their habitat…

Son practising with a friend’s bodhrán at the weekend by a window. Maybe some day he’ll be able to play like John Joe Kelly He’s found a musical instrument that he loves to play (& practice with!), which is really what matters the most…

Traditional climbing gear hung neatly in rows and groups so the Climbing Ranger’s of Devil’s Tower National Monument can quickly access the right equipment for a variety of jobs. These Rangers are paid very minimally but put their own lives on the line to rescue other recreational climbers from the Tower. Devil’s Tower, Wyoming August 2009
