mission street, san francisco, holga madness. / kodak tri-x (having only been to the US twice i still find steam rising from the vents in the street most evocative, the locals probably find it annoying)

Worn Rabbit is an extension from the original series of 9 Animal Designs that are 4” x 4” canvas blocks that I created at end of 2007. I’ve utilised the selected pink or acrylic from the original series and inks on a distressed photo that I took and printed out on paper from one of my many sketch pads. The animal design series represents what we could be left with if we don’t take care of nature and all it’s creatures. With their charming toy like appearance, they could just end up like childhood memories.

Did this pencil drawing about.. umm.. 8yrs ago? bought the doll about.. umm.. more than 12yrs ago i think.. hehe.. n_n” i just saw this 1 doll.. alone on the shelf.. there’s no one like him.. just him alone.. sitting at the top shelf.. seemingly unwanted.. he wore a cute red overall with a blue shirt and red bow tie.. his hair is so soft.. and what captures me most is the tear drop on his face.. he was unique to me back then, cos never have i seen dolls looking so sad. it’s always the preppy cute girly doll doll.. so i fell in love with him.. and tried on draw him a few times.. i think this piece was my 3rd try.. =) ps: i didn’t mean to make his face seem flat.. but his eyes and nose is really just printed on instead of the usual eyeball in doll thingy..? n_n” Vector and Raster Prints: /

Now Ophelia is being a little nosy here, she’s trying to see what goes on inside the house, a couple seems to be quarrelling. She doesn’t have to eavesdrop over what is being transpired because she has such an acute sense of hearing. “Oh! Not about money again, the root of all domestic woes! Worn Sand Piper is an extension from the original series of 9 Animal Designs that were created on 4” x 4” canvas blocks at end of 2007. Rather than using the selected blue, pink or yellow I’ve chosen a more muted tone with grey and black in acrylics and inks on a distressed photo that I had taken and printed on a piece of sketch pad paper. The animal design series represents what we could be left with if we don’t take care of nature and all it’s creatures. With their charming toy like appearance, they could just end up like childhood memories.
