This Black and White image was taken on a crisp Winters day in Paris. Most people admire the Eiffel Tower from afar but if you look up from beneath you get beautiful view that most people do not see…....actually the best view is from the steps that lead down to the toilets, before you pop to the loo’s, stop at the bottom step, turn around and look up.
View from the Eiffel Tower….with a little twist and tweaking :)
Paris It was designed in its present form as a temple to the glory of Napoleon’s army. / The Madeleine is built in the Neo-Classical style and was inspired by the Maison Carrée at Nîmes, one of the best-preserved of all Roman temples. L’église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine Its 52 Corinthian columns, each 20 metres high, are carried around the entire exterior of the building. The pediment is adorned by a sculpture of the Last Judgement by Lemaire, and the church’s bronze doors bear reliefs representing the Ten Commandments. What awaits inside.?...... The Tower
The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France. I was amazed at how small the people looked compared to the tower.
Taken on Saturday May 17 2008 at the 4000ft level of Mt Washington, New Hampshire USA. Mt Washington is the highest peak in the Presidential range of the White Mountain National Forest. We experienced the Mt.Washington Auto Road, which is America’s oldest manmade attraction. It first opened in 1861. / It was explained that the trees at this altitude are buffeted by the wind and assume strange twisted positions.

Early one January morning, I got out of bed before dawn and headed in to London and the Thames. I knew where I wanted to get the shot from. I set up the tripod and camera and waited. I hoped the sun would be visible, but had nothing more to base the possibility on other than the sky had been red at sunset the night before. My luck was in!

By far the most famous fictional ghost ship is The Flying Dutchman. The ship has become synonymous with the phenomenon so that “Flying Dutchman” is often used as a generic term for any apparition-type ghost ship. The term may also refer to a real ship that was reported to be seen – often as an apparition – after sinking, or to a ship found floating with no crewmembers on board. According to folklore, the Flying Dutchman is a ghost ship that can never go home, but must sail “the seven seas” forever. The Flying Dutchman is usually spotted from afar, sometimes glowing with ghostly light. If she is hailed by another ship, her crew will often try to send messages to land, to people long since dead. / Versions of the story are numerous. According to some, the story is originally Dutch, while others claim it is based on the English play The Flying Dutchman (1826) by Edward Fitzball and the novel The Phantom Ship (1837) by Frederick Marryat, later adapted into the Dutch story Het Vliegend Schip (The Flying Ship) by the Dutch clergyman A.H.C. Römer. Other versions include the opera by Richard Wagner (1841) and The Flying Dutchman on Tappan Sea by Washington Irving (1855).
An early morning view across the village of Nimborio on the Greek Island of Halki. The sun had just risen behind me and the mountain was glowing in the early morning light. In the centre of the shot is the broken clock tower. The residents of Tarpon Springs, Florida, USA (descendants of Halki sponge divers who were forced to relocate when the sponge diving around Halki became unprofitable) endowed Halki with money for the stone clock tower. Halki is a small yet very charming island in the Dodecanese that is situated opposite the west coast of Rhodes. Three bracketed JPGs converted to HDR in Dynamic-Photo HDR. Prague seen from Petrin Lookout Tower (Petrinska Rozhledna), Czech Republic. More than one year ago, I’ve got fascinated by some overlay works presented in various PS fora. Last year, I found about RB and soon could admire beautiful composite works of e.g. John Edwards here at RB. Inspired by many of those images here at RB or elsewhere, I’ve been planning to put my hands on some overlay work too, but I only got to it in recent days, ultimately inspired by The Wilds Of France by onefourseven (thank you, Mat, both for inspiration and a link to textures!). / This composite is my first result on the theme, composed of my original photograph and three textures from cgtextures.com. Comments and suggestions welcome! Original photograph: May 2008, Canon EOS 300X, Sigma 28-135. Post-processing: retouch, BW conversion, curves, sharpening, sepia, color adjustment, shape cut, filter gallery, overlay by three textures from cgtextures.com with adjusted brightness/contrast/levels/color, color adjustment, blend modes; final file: 24 layers, 5540×3693px, approx. 1.5GB, color profile conversion 10min, saving time >5min.
The view looking North from the top of Cairnpapple Hill in West Lothian, Scotland. At 310m or just over 1000ft in height the hill offers one of the best viewpoints in central Scotland. In the centre of the shot on the southern banks of the River Forth is the town of Grangemouth (where joak of RB fame resides). Grangemouth would be a pleasant place to live except that the town is dominated by the extremely large Grangemouth Oil Refinery with its numerous gas flares and cooling towers visible across a wide area of the Scottish Lowlands (look on joak’s page for examples). Cairnpapple Hill is situated in the Hilderston Hills within the western range of the Bathgate Hills in the parish of Torphichen, West Lothian, in south-east Scotland. Cairnpapple Hill also contains one of the most significant prehistoric monuments in Scotland (look here).
