  • A ribbon of trees follow the flow of North Creek which only flows when it seasonally rains, followed by flash floods that hit the outback in these seasonal conditions. / The foreground bridge is part of the historic Old Ghan Railway. / In the background the Oodnadatta Track carves through vast wide red gibber plains. / Gibber is aboriginal word…..means rock of throwing size

  • Fall colors in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. A few miles inside NC from Newfound Gap

  • It was one of those days where your mind wanders. I was thinking about London and when you can’t find your way in the dark and about being lost in a big unfamiliar city and thinking about Neil Gaiman’s book Neverwhere and all those thoughts about transport when you’re planning a journey somewhere and being in Wellington on tour where everything looked almost familiar but not quite, like the word you’ve been searching for and is jsut on the tip of your tongue but you can’t quite remember what it is… This is all those things, and more. This image was constructed as a chapter cover for a book that never was. It was created in photoshop from a number of straight photos.

  • The setting sun marks the end of another nervous day in the heat of the desert. The rotary blades of the helicopters shatter the silence, arriving to extract the wounded and weary troops from the frontline. Their number savagely cut by a surprise burst of enemy fire, a hail of bullets ripping through streets seeking a victim. The visible scars worn by the wounded will heal but the mental tourture will haunt them forever. He was a friend, a brother, a hero but now ge is just another body, a number, a statistic of this bloody and thankless war. When will the killing end, will the violence ever cease, will the World ever find peace or will future generations battle until their are no friends and only enemies remain?

  • Peru’s capital, Lima, is littered with ruins of civilisations that preceded the conquistadors, and not all of these are of Incan origin, though at the time of the Spanish conquest, they had been occupied or overun by the Incan empire. This one, Puruchuco, is nested at the base of a stony mountain on the eastern flank of the city. The remnants of an Incan fortress stand at the top of the mountain, high above these restored buildings. The complex is relatively small by Peruvian standards, but there are still numerous narrow stone alleys that open into darkened rooms, sprawling plazas, or end suddenly.

  • Featured in the group Art in Math / The Beatles ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ / ART / CIRCULAR QUAY & OPERA HOUSE AT NIGHT / SYDNEY / PANORAMAS / CLOUDS / COUNTRYSIDE / STILL LIFE / TENNIS / DOGS / MISCELLANEOUS /

  • The people that live in this house go so all out for Christmas that they decorate their ENTIRE home, including the front, back & side yards, EVERY room inside, closets, hallways, kitchen, foyer, patio, swimming pool, roof, & even the garage door & driveway! There are at least 250-300 trees each decorated with a different theme &/or style! Lights upon lights upon lights upon lights! Every possible Xmas decoration you could imagine & then so many more that you hadn’t! They open their house to anyone & everyone to come inside for a free tour and they greet you in elf costumes! They do accept donations as their electric bills go through the roof during this time but they do not ever ask or hint around or even imply that you should at all. There’s a donation box located at the begining of the tour that’s it & it really doesn’t stand out much especially in comparison to the rest of the place! We’ve been going for about 3 years now & we tell anybody & everybody we can about it & where it’s at so they can go too. It really is an amazing display much more so than I can ever even describe. These people are truly beautiful people & they obviously love to spread joy to those all around them. Oh I forgot ~ they do have a very small room that has some small souvenirs you can purchase but no real big supplies of anything & a few different flavors of candy canes maybe. But that room doesn’t have any lights or props whatsoever to grab your attention like the rest of the house does. I can’t say what their motives are for doing this every year for total strangers who may or may not give a little bit for letting them come into their home but from what I’ve seen it’s not for the profit. Bless their very generous hearts!

  • This photo was taken during my trip to Luxor (Egypt, Africa) in 2007. When I was on the boat voyage on the Nile. The Nile is a major north-flowing river in Africa, generally regarded as the longest river in the world. / Browse Palinchak Mikhail art by categories Art Nudes · Fractal Art · Egypt · Landscapes · Conceptual
