This was a spontaneous shot taken at a local Adelaide cafe on Rundle Street East in Kent Town one day when I was out with Dan. It was included in the series ‘When He’s Away’ and was a part of the ‘Living Queer in Adelaide’ group exhibition for the 2006 Feast Arts Festival there (Exibited at the Town Hall) I really like this one – human body against unyielding cement wall and rigid geometric lines. The theme that I was working on with the shots in this series was an analysis and exploration of sexuality – but more specifically gay male sexuality and the universal themes relating to the divide between public and private, acceptibility and unacceptibility, connection and disconnection, and of course human vulnerability / sensitivity and the structures and systems which confine or limit this. This piece is a part of a series of female torsos exploring the idea of how women often believe they are the role they play in life – eg: mum, wife, employee, sister, friend etc. / A woman has many facets to her being and does not have to only be what she believes is her role is in society. / RU Regenerated is depicting how a woman can regenerate herself to be who she really is or wants to become. / This work has been created using recycled pieces of computers, assembled onto a plastic half mannequin, complete with lights that light up! / Featured on the RedBubble Homepage 4.6.09 / More Torsos/Busty Bits / Detail /

Date: November 2002 Medium: Film Photography / (Pentax K1000, 400ISO Ilford B+W) Model: Suzi Description: / My original idea for this photograph was to use lines to distort and exaggerate the human form. I used body paint and ambient light from two 500W lamps to achieve this effect. I used a Hoya 4+ filter in the darkroom to boost the contrast.
