  • OVER ONE HUNDRED VIEWS ~ THANK YOU Pérouges was inhabited by craftsmen – mainly farmers and linen weavers. It was probably founded by a Gallic colony returning from Perogia in Italy. In 1167 the Seigneur d’Anthon famously shut the commune’s walls against the troops of the Archbishop of Lyon, and as early as 1236 the inhabitants earned communal freedom. In 1601 the town officially became French. Until the end of the 18th century, the textile industry in Pérouges boomed. In the 19th century, however, roads and railroads were re-routed and the population dropped from 1,500 to 8. But, starting in 1911, the town was restored and houses were saved. Today, Pérouges is a popular tourist attraction.

  • Personally this is one of my favourites; as it reminds me of a boys journey through life and the steps he has to learn to climb. Everytime I look at it, the boy reminds me much of myself and the steps and the journeys that I have taken in life; the places I’ve gone, the people I’ve met, and all the adventures and affairs. Now I feel ‘Just a few more steps, and I’ll be home’ Sintra / Portugal Nikon F3 20mm lens original B/W neg scanned thru NikonScan OVER ONE HUNDRED VIEWS ~ THANK YOU*

  • TWO HUNDRED VIEWS ~ THANK YOU ...... she stood there, on the cusp of liberty, where her grandmother had tried to be many years before. In that moment she realised that although it was only a few steps, but it took many years for someone in her family to reach the other side ….. she was in liberty’s shadow She stood and watched at Liberty crossing, as people hurried past, where East meets West, now there was freedom; and wondered what the future held Check Point Charlie / Berlin Germany Ten days after closing the border on August 13 1961 tourists from abroad, diplomats and the military personnel of the Western Powers were only allowed to enter East Berlin via the crossing point at Berlin Friedrichstrasse. Soon the US military police opened the third checkpoint at Friedrichstrasse. The other two checkpoints were Helmstedt at the West German-East German border and Dreilinden at the West Berlin and East Germany border. Based on the phonetic alphabet the Helmstedt checkpoint was called Alpha, Dreilinden Checkpoint Bravo and the checkpoint at Friedrichstrasse got the name Charlie, hence it was known as Checkpoint Charlie Checkpoint Charlie was removed on June 22, 1990. The former Allied guardhouses are now located in the Allied Museum and a copy of the American guardhouse was erected on the original place on August 13, 2000.

  • FOUR HUNDRED VIEWS ~ THANK YOU / FEATURED ON REDBUBBLE HOME PAGE From the Third Man to the Ragman / The Third Man film celebrates it’s 60th anniversary this year (1949 ~ 2009) Orson Welles in post-war Vienna Carol Reed director of The Third Man, I will always associate as the male director with a female name directing the leading character Holly Martins another strong impressive male with a female name. However what legacy is left with me is his dramatic lighting and film sets, which gave introduce the monochrome’s twin towers ~ light and shade, and shape and form in combination and fusion for intensity and impact, something which is not lost on my own work.
