On this night I was lucky. I set up my camera on a tripod beside the pond, and waited. I was worried that I would not have enough light, but there was a full moon, and as luck would have it, I managed to capture this wonderful image of an incredible animal. The beaver is an iconic animal of Canada, and an important part of the early history of the country. This shot was taken near the mouth of Willow Creek, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada using a Nikon D2Xs with a Nikkor f4 200-400 mm lens mounted on a monopod.
