Concrete and steel. The end of the day, and end of an era.
Taken on a night I was meant to be working, but the storm knocked out the power, so I could guilt free try for a lightning shot. / It also meant that the street lights were out, which was great. I took it freehand out of a window, so was very happy with it, particularly with the horizontal arcs.
Fun in the park with a great opening to Spring!
Newly unfurling maple leaves. First run with a D80 :)
B&W version of maple leaves. The veins really stand out without colour to distract. This image was given an ‘Honourable mention’ (3rd place) in the Toowoomba Royal Show, 2008.
The dark elf rested on the rock face, taking the moment to wipe the last trace of blood from her blade. The dull light made her eyes ache, and she wished again that she was miles underground… Thanks to Kym Breeze for being an awesome sport and coming out with me for the day for a fantasy-themed photo session! She was a great model, not too demanding LOL!
A bit of fun from some wedding photos :)
More wine related fun! Same winery, same visit, again from the ex-camera :)

Taken with a macro lens – but I honestly didn’t need to have used it! Very very large spider. Thankfully with a passive personality. / Can you see the fangs?

Highfields is a region north of Toowoomba which follows the line of the Great Dividing Range. This view is facing East over a valley with the afternoon sun behind. This exposure was taken with a Meopta Flexaret IIa, on Fujichrome Velvia 50 RVP, then scanned using a Canon Canoscan 8600f and digitally processed. Being a Medium Format image, it will happily enlarge to 24 inches with no loss in detail.
This house belonged to our friends but they have since sold it. It’s a lovely Old Queenslander set in large grounds in Toowoomba.
This is a collage and painted artwork about our children growing up inthe second second house we lived in, in Toowoomba.
This beautiful Iris was in Queens park at Toowoomba Garden Festival. I was on a bus trip and everyone ws waiting for me when I spotted this. Of course they had to wait a bit longer! This was taken on my Kodak Z8612 camera and is straight from the camerathanks for visiting, cheers- Valerie /

Part of a magnificient Wisteria plant that was all over a fence and up the trees , down the road from me.
Looks like they both had a tough day at the office! This image took out 2nd place at the Toowoomba Royal Show, 2009, for the B&W portrait class.
A beautiful autumn day at the gardens in Toowoomba , QLD. Great reflections and contrasts.
I went on the right day to get this wonderful wisteria tunnel in full bloom, I went back a couple of days later and it had gone past its best.
Felt a bit down today so just had to create. Was going to throw some paint at a canvas but instead grabbed an old photo I took at the Toowoomba Horse Show years ago & went for it. I just love charcoal – such an expressive, sensitive medium. A lot like me really ;-) Here’s the drawing on the easel. And thanks for looking. Original is For Sale. Simply email me.
Another from our train ride down the mountain…..& me doing what I kept telling my children not to do; sticking my head too far out the window to take the shot! [canon 1000D, Tamron 18-200 @ 80mm]
Taken at our Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers in September. The name of these is on the tip of my tongue. Thanks for looking :-)
