the dentist aint cheap, certainly not free
My teeth are shining / x-rays reveal root of all / bank balance decay
Inspired by a visit to my dentist who I suspect of overcharging. Republished in written work from an early journal entry.
Have you ever wondered how dentists understand the mumbled responses one gives while laying in their chair?
My trip to the Dentist.
I’m getting a crown / To wear all over town
I wrote this after a visit to the dentist. I was very dissapointed that I didn’t get a sparkling one but never mind
Not thinking a thing about it (her Good Fairy costume) she popped into the Dentist’s waiting room, ...
An inspiration, that’s what Lois was, to young and old. But not exactly for the same reason…
‘Oh my God its so big!’
I hope my Mother never sees this!.... or that!
“Let me make it absolutely clear that it’s a myth the dental industry has influence here!” Tooth Fairy
An investigative piece I’ve done for our local parenting newsletter. Thought some bubblers might find it helpful. / / CHUNKIE Tooth Fairy by Karin Taylor
She scuttled around toadstools and towards the back gate, bending to walk beneath it.
Not that I’m obsessing about such things, but wanted to write something for the current Flash Fiction challenge which finishes at midday today. So there you go! Besides, there’s something quite macabre about collecting teeth, I feel.
waves won’t swallow you whole
And what of night’s fallen child, / that longs for an embrace. / A touch of breath on softest cheek, / a tear wiped from soiled face. And…
A short poem
The Anthropologist prescribed me / some unknown pill / for my toothy smile / i shook his hand
A pile of Needles and scags tumbled effortlessly at best into the mouths of those around me by someone on an ether huffing delirium.
bad smiles
A final end to durance vile with / no possibility of second-chance paroles. Burnished straps replace cuffs, / marking cuts into my ankle…
Leviticus, Chapter 24, verses 19-21: And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbor; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him; / Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again. / And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death. And “speedball” is a mix of heroine and cocaine.
“His unmet dreams followed him to the grave, while not a friend was found at the end of his days”
This poem is about addiction, whether it’s to alcohol, drugs, or prescribed medications. The deceptions that shroud the the life of the individual who lives this drama ravages the lives of the people they have taken hostage along the way. I’ve lived this piece of poetry. I’m not the one who is the addict, but I have loved the one who was. I have also seen this scenario played out in the lives of some family members. Perhaps the intent of this piece will never be read by those who truly need to hear, but penning the meassge has been theraputic for one who has lived it’s truth in days gone by, thankfully!
