When you arrive the combination of the historic building , the smells of the kitchen and the sounds on the music player will guarantee you an experience unmatched anywhere else in the county. The Castle itself can be traced back to 1379. It is a stone twin towered fortress, built by the Bassett family and is inside the ramparts of the Iron Age hill fort. It was probably built has a hunting lodge, or as a chapel to St Michael. It has been restored and extended over the years, and today has the look of a modern folly, rather than a medieval fort. The views from this spot are splendid, and you can see for miles on a bright evening. Truly something different for the whole family. This shot was taken with a Canon AE1 35mm camera about 15 years ago and scanned into the computer. Then I tweaked it a little in Photoshop Elements 5 All the Materials Contained May Not Be Reproduced, Copied, Edited, Published, Transmitted or Uploaded In Anyway Without My Permission. This one is slightly different but it is very special to me. I caught this shot of my brother, Ken, who was 2 years older than I am, as the sun was going down; I think he may have been watching a Buzzard over the cliffs of Portreath in Cornwall. I don’t have many photos of him but this one, which I have made part painting which is rubbish I know, who paints a sun like that? Well I found it hard to paint with the computer mouse. I forced the grain in the shot to look a bit like a canvas painting. But anyway, this one I like as it sums him up as a person. He loved nature, bird & animal watching, painting, craft making, photography, flowers, plants, gardening, and the outdoor life. He was in his element when he managed to get a job on a huge estate in Cornwall to help look after the grounds. This is where he died 5 years ago almost to the day lying on the ground in a place he loved so much with the sun on his face and the animals and birds around him. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to go on. So, this is for Ken, my dear big brother with love from me, I miss you my friend. The shot was taken on my Canon AE1 35mm camera about 20 odd years ago and scanned into the computer. I am a gentle creature from time to time. But there is another side. So YOU want to mess with my pack, my friends. You have judged the cover without knowing the heart. So here I was in my den taking it easy and minding my own business. Then my inner spirit spoke to me and said something was wrong. I felt it inside and I was right. So I am waiting, and when the time is right. Now you have awakened the Warrior within, mess with one, mess with us all. Yeah this look is for YOU! Remember it, because the next time you will not see my face. Cheer up Selina!!!

I have no idea of the breed of duck this is, that doesn’t matter too much but I just had to take the shot. She is a beautiful colourful thing which makes me think she is a he. Her feathers are so detailed and she has a lovely reflection following her around. And on top of all this it looks like she is swimming on a lake of mercury. This was taken in a local open space area near to where I live. It was in Whitewebbs Woods near Enfield, England I have been told a few times now and thanks to those people, they are called Mandarin Ducks. All my life the sea has held a fascination for me especially when it is rough like it was on this day in Portreath in Cornwall. The waves were smashing high over the harbour wall with a tremendous living power. But millions of years ago there was a forest here in Portreath before the sea covered it which was probably after the ice melted from the famous ice age. Many of the beasts living here would have been killed or evolved to live in the sea or to move inland. Evidence of the forest still can be found to this day if you swim out a little way from the harbour and dive down you will come across the petrified remains of it. The planet is forever spinning day in and day out, evolution moves with it. Things are born, they live, they die and in their death others feed so they may live on to start the process over and over again. It is our living planet, our home and we move onwards with it. It is always worth a visit to Portreath which is near to Redruth and also near to where I used to live in a village called Illogan. / Portreath has great some of the best surfing next to Newquay of course and a small beach, cliff walks and the pasties here are the best around. The pathway by the side of the pond with its carpet of golden yellow and rusty brown leaves lead you further on your journey. The trees at the path edge stand proud like sentinels protecting your way. Go in safety today my friends; there is no evil to befall you here. Yep, this dear little flower is the first to arrive in our garden this year so spring has started her rebirth and re-growth. It could also be said this is symbolic of our own growth and rebirth, changes being made within our own being. We just need to sit quiet to seek the answers. Forgive them for they know not what they do, nor do they care. Forgive them for the insults and assumptions for they do not know our heart. Forgive them for the arrogance that they put themselves on a throne not knowing the struggles of those who just want to be a part of the same Kingdom as well. Forgive them for the superior attitude that they assume they have the right, to insult, demean, and judge. Forgive them for not thinking of the struggles that some face just to learn and create and want to belong. Forgive them for thinking we should see the world through their eyes. I pray please forgive them!!!!!!!!!!because I can not. Bye

Here in the photo it is autumn the trees and shrubs shed their leaves to form a carpet of golden yellow and rusty brown and it will lead you deeper into the woods for a journey to remember. But if we stop to think for just a moment about the whole process of life we get a better picture of what’s to come. As we walk along the pathway by the side of the murky pond we see many of the trees are now naked of their protection, their leaves. In spring the leaves grow and give shade to everything underneath, some flower and the birds live on the seeds then they fly off somewhere and when their food passes through them it lands on the earth and will grow into another tree starting the process off again. The leaves give life to the tiny creatures of the forest, ants; spider’s caterpillars to name but a few and other creatures live on these. Where there is life – it gives life. When autumn calls and the bad weather comes the leaves drop to feed the ground creatures and to feed the earth so other things may grow and live. Living is a cycle, we are born, we live and we die but when we die we help others to live. Isn’t life wonderful? I would like to dedicate this photo to ALL of you who are going through some form of trauma, hardship, pain or hurting in your lives at the moment. No matter what it is all will become good again soon. Trust in the process. This shot was taken on my Canon AE1 35mm camera about 35 years ago. I have always loved this photograph but the original shot has faded over the years so I have just scanned into the computer and then tweaked in Photoshop Elements 5. It almost has the feel of a painting to it, what do you think? And as to where it was taken, well I can’t remember, sorry, but I believe somewhere this side of London maybe in Hertfordshire? Sorry I don’t have any new photos for you yet that’s why I am going through the old shots again. This really is a beautiful place to visit whether you live in Cornwall or are down there on holiday. Take a slow walk along the lovely trail to reach the waterfall and you’ll hear the power of the water beating down before seeing it. People come here from all over the world to be at one with themselves, to meditate or just to rest. Some people make a shrine from a personal item and leave it there hoping for healing for themselves, a love one, a friend or anyone on their healing list. The writing below I copied from the website of St. Nectans Glen Rocky Valley Waterfall you can find it through Google. Sited near Tintagel in Cornwall, this beautiful valley is hidden and is only accessible by foot. This Unique 60 ft waterfall is at the head if the idyllic wooded valley of St. Nectan’s Glen. St Nectan’s waterfall has been described as amongst the ten most important spiritual sites in the country. The Kieve has been a place of reverence, worship and healing since pre-Christian times. People of many faiths have walked the ancient route to the waterfall to bathe in its mysterious and therapeutic atmosphere. The Hermitage has been built over what is reputed to be the site of St. Nectan’s cell. Opening Times:-7 Days a week 10.30a.m. to 6.30p.m. Last admission 6.00 p.m. / November to Easter Waterfall open by appointment only. Also Tea garden closed / Prices Adults £3.00 Children £1.50. Family Ticket £8.00 (2 adults 2 children) / Teas and light snacks are served, on the patio, weather permitting. My next series will probably be the last for a while as I will be writing a book with Carrie Glen and I will need all of my energy (such as it is) on that project. However, I will be looking at your work from time to time so you won’t get off that easily and I may upload a photo now and again. So my last series will be in The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre & Animal Park and funny enough it is in Cornwall. There will be about nine shots in the series. Jackie and I took my mum there for a treat for her 79th birthday when we were in Cornwall recently and the results I have from that day turned out quite cool. I want to thank you for looking at my work I do so appreciate it. The usual happened though, because I was taking the shots I wasn’t listening to Andy, one of the guys who helps run the centre and I can’t remember what bird is what or who is who. Yes I could guess at it and I may get it right but I’d rather let you tell me with your knowledge of wildlife. So I am just going to name them, #1 through to #9. The centre is between St. Columb Major and Wadebridge along the A39 road which is a turn off from the A30. It is open seven days a week between Easter and the end of October from 10am – 5pm. And the best thing is it only costs £6.50 for an adult to get in. There are some fantastic flying displays held daily normally at: 12pm – 2pm and 4pm weather permitting of course. Believe me it is just a wonderful day out with so many birds and animals to see and you can get quite close to some of them as you will see in my shots. The guys who run the centre, Andy, Kelly, Kath and Mick are so friendly towards you, you won’t want to leave and you can get a decent cup of tea in Olly’s Snack Shack and Gift shop. A lot of the birds and animals are there because their original owners couldn’t cope with them or were very cruel to them. My mum, Jackie and I fell in love with the place and I have sent them over one hundred of my photographs (bird and animals) on a couple of CD’s to help their business to grow. It is just something I wanted to do to help the centre, to help the owners and mainly to help the wildlife there. This is number three of three in my Devon series. I hope you have like them and thank you very much for viewing my work. After shooting the Dipper, my wife and I walked along the river path to get to Watersmeet. And that’s just what it is, where the waters (rivers) meet and join each other. It was about two miles from Lynmouth and a beautiful walk and we were ready for a cup of tea and something to eat. We sat at a table outside of the Watersmeet cafe and the birds joined us for bits of food.
