This is my son in one of his more playful moods. / By emphasising his mouth, I have managed to make him look quite sinister – which believe me, he isn’t.
Here’s one I took today of Maggie at the beach. She’s our 6 month old Labradoodle who’s eyes are so much wiser than than her 6 months!

This view is one I have dreamed about for years after seeing it in an article I found on-line. The picture is taken off the rarely visited Mt Norgate (419m) overlooking Oberon Bay, then Norman, Pillar, Leonard and Tongue Points before getting to Shellback Island at Wilsons Promontory. When down amongst these points the fact that they line up is impossible to percieve how they do line up when up here is a true wonder to behold. The difficulty in getting to this spot was staggeringly hard involving two days of hard bushbashing and dangerous sea level traverses to cover less than 10km. Part of the journey can be seen on this You Tube clip . Incidentally this clip was of one of the easier traverses on which no-one actually got (very)wet (was so preoccupied with me and my companions doing the other ones safely I forgot to get my camera out, doh). For more of the story of this trip check out the caption linked with my Anser Island from South-west Point pic below. For more shots from this area check out my Wilsons Promontory gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society
I’ve never managed to get this close to a bee before. / I was around 5cm … if not closer … from this guy. / Surprised the surrounding flash heads ect didn’t freak him out. / Was an amazing experience … the bee was very cooperative. / Yes I used Fractalius to enhance a bit :-) Photo Information: / 28th December 2008 EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM / Focal Length: 60.0mm / Extension Tube: EF12 II & EF25 II / Flash: MT-24EX Aperture: 10.0 / Shutter: 1/100 / ISO: 100 / 09/01/09 . Recently there’s been a spate of crocodile attacks here in Australia. / / Just last weekend, 11 year old Birony Goodsell was dragged underwater by one and never resurfaced. / / If feel deeply sorry for her and even worse for her family but for crying out loud, she was swiming in our most dangerous state, in a place called Black Jungle Swamp. / / That’s just asking for it. / / So now authorities are setting traps to catch and kill these so called ‘menacing’ crocodiles. / / Fair enough but I think it’s important for all of us to remember that we don’t own this planet. We share it with millions of other species and we have to learn and teach our children to respect them and their rights. / / I’m doing this shirt to present the lighter side of these primordial creatures and point out that they aren’t menacing. They’re just hungry. / / /

A little Australian Native Stingless Bee (Trigona carbonaria), cleaning her long proboscis (a complex “tongue”), used to suck the nectar from flowers. These little bees are harmless to humans, which is a good thing, as to get this shot, at 5x, I had to put the lens right in her face.. Hehe! Shot in the Noosa National Park, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. Flower is a native wildflower to the sandy areas, not sure of the name unfortunately. Canon 5D Mk II, 65mm, 5x. Available Large, and best appreciated Large!
