Night time at Luna Park, Melbourne, and the fanciful steeds of PTC Carousel #30 thunder out into the darkenss to capture the hearts of children, young and old. Luna Park is Heritage Listed* & this 1913 PTC Carousel is a fine example of the style the Philadelphia Tobaggan Company (1904-1934) were renowned for. Frankly, each hand-carved horse is a work of art! Postediting: slight increase to brightness, colour saturation & contrast to compensate for night conditions & bright lights from other rides at the park. Luna Park as a whole is listed by the National Trust of Australia, and the main heritage features are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register

I took this shot a few months ago & no longer remember how I got this effect (darn!), but I really liked the one central horse captured in stop-motion while the others raced by … Location: Luna Park, Melbourne. Heritage Listed amusement park on the foreshore of St Kilda & custodian of PTC Carousel #30 created in 1913 – a fine example of the Philadelphia Tobaggan Company (1904-1934) style.
