Have you ever been strolling through your garden, early in the morning, and come across a piping hot cup of tea nestled among the vines you forgot to prune back last spring? No? Well, tea faeries ARE rather rare, it’s true, but I’ve captured a likeness of this one so you will know what to look for. Teablossom Terpsichore (genus Faerie Terpsichoreus, commonly known as the Dancing Faerie) graces my garden from time to time, usually accompanied by her Toasty Butteredflies. I often find her soaking her little slippered feet in a cup of Earl Grey and wearing her adorable little teacup hat. Out of politeness, I avoid nibbling her buttery friends, but they do make me awfully hungry for breakfast. / Teablossom does a lovely little dance while I thoughtfully sip my first cup of the morning. Keep an eye out Teablossom because a Tea Faerie dance is a great way to start your day. She WILL swipe your teaspoons, though… This original artwork and story are copyright Ramona Szczerba 2008. You can burn CD’s so why not toast tapes? / I came up with this idea while drugged up on cold and flu medication. I thought up, shot and photoshopped the whole thing in 1 hour! Maybe i should do more photo shoots while sick? / Also available as a T-Shirt design!

How far we have come from eating raw mammoth to this. Mammoth – spear – knife – stomach. Now it’s… Mine tin – refine ore – maufacture tin – grow beans – cook – package – distribute – grow wheat – harvest – make bread – distribute – manufacture toaster – manufacture gas hob – manufacture pan – cook beans (again) – toast bread – stomach.

There is deeply philosophical conundrum embedded in this work / “Which came first the chicken or the fried egg ?” / The answer this.. “the spaghetti” ! I’ve got Irish and Italian blood so Celtic Spaghetti was the almost inevitable outcome ! I think this would look good as a big print.. so I hope one of the people who have bought this will put a PIC in the buyers booth ! Please !!!

I hope you will enjoy making my slice. / I created this slice and entered it in the Australian Table Magazine (now called BBC Australian Good Food). / I was lucky to win a prize and get published in the magazine. Cherry & toasted Almond Slice. Base 250g pkt plain sweet biscuits (crumbed) / eg: arrowroot or milk coffee / 100g pkt glased cherries, cut into pieces / 1 cup coconut / 395g tin sweetened condensed milk / 125g butter / 100g toasted sllivered almonds (or chopped) Topping / 250g block of milk chocolate with almonds / 60 copha Line base of a 18cm x 20 cm lamington tin with baking paper, letting it come up the sides. Combine biscuit crumbs, cherries, coconut and the almonds in a bowl. Place butter and condensed milk into a small saucepan and stir until disolved and boil on a low heat for one minute. Pour butter mixture into dry ingredience and combine well. Press into pan and refrigerate. Topping.
