Late afternoon light and reflection in Walpa Gorge, Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Central Australia. [Creative Effects: NONE]
One of my all time favourite sunset views is the view looking west from a small staff caravan park at Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) towards the silhouette of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). I have witnessed hundreds of amazingly beautiful sunsets from this place. This was a particularly pink sunset some years ago. Kata Tjuta, Australia. [Creative Effects: NONE]
An incredible stormy sunset sky over the desert in early summer (2005). Kata Tjuta is silhouetted against the setting sun in the distance. Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), Central Australia, 2005. [Creative Effects: NONE]
A magnificent view of Kata Tjuta, as captured from the side of the main road to Western Australia (the Docker River Road). Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, 2007. [Creative Effects: Brightness/Contrast adjustment, Omni spotlight effect with Photoshop]
Kata Tjuta, known also as The Olgas. Kata Tjuta is the Aboriginal name, which means “many heads’. It is a group of more than 30 rounded red domes rising from the desert floor. The tallest is said to be around 546 metres high. Kata Tjuta is about 30 kilometres west of Uluru. An amazing place to explore, magnificent scenery in every direction. Strong southerly winds carry tonnes of sand hundred of kilometres from South Australia and deposit them into the Northern Territory. A scene with movement and drama this has to be one of my favourites from around the base. Shot at the entrance of the Mujutuulu waterhole on the southern side of Uluru. The Domes of Kata Tjuta are a sacred men’s site and photographers require a licence and cultural clearance to sell them. This one didn’t pass but as I’m not selling this image and just sharing it with you its ok. Kata Tjuta, Uluru – Kata Tjuta National Park / Northern Territory / Australia

For an online painting-challenge, we where asked to make an image that would represent Australia! / It interested me, but did not know exactly how I would do it! / I ended up on the site of a couple of Globetrotters! http://www.bourlingueurs.com/ / I scrutinized their photos and found 2 who appealed me very much! / One of Ayers Rock , and one of a crashed car in the middle of the dessert! / I melted them together to one photo! / Mark warned me that I painted “Kata Tjuta” instead of “Ayers Rock”! The representation of this mountain and that derelict car described in my mind how I see Australia! / Beautiful nature and heritage nurtured by the Aboriginals, and the car representing the pioneers, adventurers and technology trying to find its place in that great big continent! It’s a watercolor-painting / 30cm x 21cm / 300g
NOT FOR SALE – Not Cleared by UKTNP Media Office An amazing morning at Kata Tjuta. The perfect time of year with the tall flowers of Spinifex and the Desert Oak catching the first rays of morning light. At this time of the year the sun shines through the nearby sand dune and highlights the foreground vegetation and the domes are still catching enough sun for a good set of highlights. Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park. Featured in THIS IS AUSTRALIA group.
This is a picture taken in the Kata Tjuta National Park Northern Territory Australia. The rock formation is known as The Olgas, and is an historical landmark espicially for the native Abborigials, the men used this sight to teach their sons and was a place of initiation for young boys. Uluru is located in the same national park just 30 kilometers east.
At the time I just got a digital camera(late 2006), had 1gb of memory, no tripod, no pc and was living many miles from nowhere. / I’ve lost half the files from just over 6 months of time served at Yulara State going round and round in circles always in a clock work direction. / This was my escape from the Voyages to the Outie and the bottom of a bottle from being cramped in ShareShare. Not for sale due to rules and regulations as it’s not approved. If you’d really like it there’s a slight price increase to get this permitted for sale.
