This is La Courtine, one of the most beautiful cliff I’ve ever seen. La Courtine is part of the amazing rocky coast around Etretat in Upper Normandy, France, altogether known as Les Failases d’Etretat. I took this picture last August, on a very windy – as usual over there – late afternoon. / I wanted to have the sea looking as much smooth as possible, but I was in full daylight, as it was around 19:30 hours. Even with the overcasted sky, and even full stopping down the lens, the exposure time was only 1/2 seconds, a too fast time to move the sea surface. Using a polarizer and a 8x ND filter I gained 5 more stops, obtaining therefore, with a slight over-exposure, 20 secs of exposure time. Finally, I used a graduated filter to darken the sky, while keeping a correct exposure on the cliffs and the sea. / This allowed me to give the sea surface a watercolour paint look, and I also obtained a slight movement in the clouds, thanks to the strong wind. A Teardrop in Time I dedicate this to all Native Americans. / This image is so much more than a photograph of a beautiful sunrise…...to me it symbolizes power and strength, and overwhelming evidence of a power so much greater than we could ever imagine…...the teardrop is in memory of all the vast numbers of Native Americans whom were abused and destroyed by others’ ignorance….... Imagine the sunrises, sunsets, storms, and sunny days this water tower has seen in all its years. This day was not a particuarly memorable day in its history, but it will be remembered it as it appeared through the lens of an antique camera and now captured forever in this digital medium. The Clack produces only 8 negatives on a roll of 120 film. This forces the photographer to slow down and carefully compose each shot. This slowing down of time is exactly what is being portrayed in this photograph. The colors and clouds bleed into the background, highlighting how little has changed in this scene over time. Created using a 1950’s AGFA Clack camera with 4 year expired Fuji Velvia RVP120 (ISO 50) slide film cross processed with C-41. No digital manipulation necessary! Night time shot, taken in the backwaters of the River Murray, near Lyrup in the Riverland area of South Australia. Beautiful still night with mirror image reflections of the majestic dead river gums. BEST Viewed large. Canon 400D 18-55 lens. Processed in Photoshop CS3.

Late afternoon, Lyrup flats between Renmark and Berri in the Riverland of South Australia. Afternoon shots whilst waiting for the sun to go down for a night time shoot. The clouds moved apart and left this diamond like section reflecting nicely on the still backwaters. Again a visit to one of my favourite places where these huge River gums stand defiant against nature, dead but not finished….... Canon 400D 18-55 lens, CIR Polarising filter. Three shot panoramic stitch in CS3 and converted to B&W in the same program.

Patina (ˈpa tə nə) is a film on the surface of bronze or similar metals (produced by oxidation over a long period); a sheen on wooden furniture produced by age, wear, and polishing; or any such acquired change of a surface through age and exposure. On metal, patina is a coating of various chemical compounds such as oxides or carbonates formed on the surface during exposure to the elements (weathering). Patina also refers to accumulated changes in surface texture and colour that result from normal use of an object such as a coin or a piece of furniture over time. / Patinas are restricted to exposed surfaces and are fragile (that is, they can flake off). One reason bronze is so highly valued in statuary is that its patina protects or passivates it against further corrosion. This natural patina is solid and seldom shows a tendency to flake.
