Thredbo River just before dusk i had to lie down on the bank to get the reflection of the trees on the water this way.
The valleys between Woods Point and Jamieson were a goldminers paradise which unfortunately did not last. There wre several small towns grew in the heady days, but now they are almost forgotten. Raspberry creek had several such houses and shops, but the houses were in a better state of repair than the shops. Taken with Pentax camera and Pentax 28 mm shift lens on Kodachrome film.

I keep returning to this forest. For the peace and quiet, the sweet smell of the pines, the shifting light. The forests of the Earth are special places. I have a terrible thought sometimes, that one day all we will have are photographs of these treasures.

This mill was built about 1910 by Edwin B.Mabry, / A jack–of–all–trades, who has been a chairmaker, a miner, a coal company blacksmith, and a farmer. / He and his wife, Mintoria Lizzie Mabry, operated the mill until 1936, grinding corn and sawing lumber for their Meadows of Dan neighbors. / . / In 1945, the National Park Service restored and landscaped the mill. / Today, it is the most photographed feature on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
