This is an adaptation of ” View to the Amalfi Coast ” by Carl Fredrik Aagaard of Denmark, 1833-1895. It was commissioned by M. Morris in Dallas, TX who contacted me and asked if I could do a mural on tumbled Italian marble. The 12” x 19” tiles were shipped to me and Ms. Morris and I collaborated via e-mail regarding how she wanted the image portrayed. It was hand painted and airbrushed using acrylic and tile sealer. The finished mural was shipped back to Dallas where it was installed onto a kitchen wall.

  • The image reminds me of a sliding tile puzzle I had as a child. The tiles when completed comprised of a picture or sequence of numbers which could be scrambled or arranged by using the one empty space in the frame to move tiles one at a time. The individual windows in this image appear to have been shuffled and need reorganised into a complete reflection. The building appeared to house those involved in media, TV or radio, and is in Sophia, Bulgaria. Featured in ‘Reflection in Building Windows’.

  • The Pieces of Heritage / art and photo manipulation This art was direct influence from my visit to “Kantojir Mondir” -a 16th century temple in Dinajpur, Bangladesh. / The temple made up of terracotta tiles. Every single one is different. They tell the story from Hindu epics and depicts the different events, lifestyle of contemporary (16th century) society, political economical conditions. Tiles also contains stories from Buddhism and flowers and motifs. / I was really moved by the beauty and intensity above all its secular approach…it made me proud of my heritage… / This art is truly the pieces of my heritage. . /

  • This was a drawing done / with a white painter’s pen on Winsor & Newton Black Paper (140gsm). Would make a great card to say “I love you” or for Valentine’s Day or any other day. Then it was processed with Photoshop Elements. I have been doing some mosaicing and this led me to treat the drawing to imitate my tile work. Instead of two colours it now has about 50 colours or shades. The heart is no longer just drawn but neither is it digitally created. Thanks to Bits & Pieces for featuring this work, / I much appreciate the encouragement. A heart should be soft / but many are hard as rock A heart should be giving / But many don’t seem to be living A heart should be loving / Not hardened against emoting

  • “I dropped a tear in the ocean” (an unattributed quote) inspired this dainty beaded mosaic. Mosaic includes sea glass, bugle and seed beads, brass embellishments, gold beads, and silver jewelry on a 4” terra cotta tile. The mosaic is matted in bronze and framed with a 5 1/2” table-top shadow box. A delicate and beautiful tribute to the ocean’s beauty and power.
