  • Over Christmas I decided to take a break from sitting around in front of the TV and stuffing my face with chocolate / nuts / dates etc, and ventured down to the seafront at Dovercourt, Essex to try and capture one of the lighthouses there. It was cold – the windchill meant the temperature was hovering around the -2 mark. Oh, how I envy our Antipodean cousins…! 1 shot HDR processed in Photomatix Pro, 20 sec shutter, 14mm, f22, ISO 100, ND8 neutral and ND4 grad filters. And a warm scarf. The two Dovercourt lighthouses are the most prominent features of the seafront. Erected by Trinity House in 1863, they were used until 1917, guiding ships around Landguard Point with their powerful gas lamps. See more of my work at Dan Biggins Photography.
