This photo was taken during a extreme low tide just after sunrise at Monkey Mia in Shark Bay Western Australia. You could walk out about 100 meters from the beach before you got to the water! The location of Monkey Mia is the only place on Western Australia where the sun rises over the ocean. / As you can see in this photo the sun has been blocked by the large cloud formation, but can be seen in the reflections off the wet sand. This is a photo of the sea barrier at the wharf in St. Phillips, Newfoundland. The salt water from the ocean has rusted the bolts and caused this array of rainbow colors to stain the wood. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography /

Went out this morning to shoot Mona Vale pool. It was a very high tide (1.7m). Braved the waves to get some interesting shots of the water crashing over the pool. Very little Photoshop on this image (just a few curves and levels), other than that, this was how it came off the camera.
“Tide line” is all about the aesthetic effect of the sea moving gracefully over the sand. The painting is divided into three sections. The break in the rainy day at sunset coupled with high tide being driven by the wind created some surging waves for me to use in the foreground and this gnarled limb or stump washed ahore at the right time for me to add it to the composition. Taken at Neptune Beach here in the great state of Washington.

Seascape image taken at Dail Mhor, Isle Of Lewis. This place never ceases to impress and you can always get an image no matter what the weather. Probably my worse ever trip to the Western Isles in the Outer Hebrides. Virtually no light the whole time, it rained virtually ever minute and the wind was blowing the rain into horizontal direction that made it impossible to get any photography done. / However, this one I did manage to get and was so chuffed with the result. It is a 13 second exposure of the waves crashing into this small cove. Location Info: / Dail Mhor or Bagh Dhail Mor / Nearest Town: Carloway, Isle Of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland / OS Grid: 121600,945145 This is an updated image from the original uploaded. There were several aspects of the scene that needed to be attended to (i.e. a rock cloned out on the extreme left) so I took the plunge and made the adjustments. I think the scene is now stronger due to these adjustments. This image is no longer available as an open edition
A lone tree anchors the coast and braces for the impact of another wave of the incoming tide as it crashes ashore at sunset near Lahaina on Maui.

Nick and I were hoping to catch up with Ken Wright for a shoot, but the weather wasn’t looking good. Ken decided to sleep in, but Nick and I drove down to the coast anyway. Sat in the car while it rained and waited, and waited….then walked down to the rocks after dawn, with umbrellas….and waited some more….eventually I weakened and asked for the keys so I could start shooting…. I’m glad I did…..got some rippers, in the end! Thank goodness for the heavy clouds, makes shooting after dawn so much easier! “Time and Tide” She rises in silence on another human moment, and illuminates the crumbling icons we worship…and those we have yet to awaken to. Reality is merely a perception, and we can be so blind. Regardless of our lack of vision, / time and tide move inexorably to erase all traces of our petty struggles and return us to the place it all began… The ghosts of the past walk beside the spirits of the future, leaving invisible footprints upon this landscape… guiding a relentless cycle of humanity on its neverending journey to self discovery. Somewhere between the lines, truth reveals the simple joy of acceptance and the relinquishing of control, and waits patiently for us to see. Beyond all that we think we are or strive to be, time and tide will continue to overwrite our diminutive stories with a grander chronicle of their own, eternally seeking to restore the balance…. This is one from my recent trip with Glen to Moreton Island where we were witnessing a great natural spectacle. Do I really need to say anything here…..just look at this landscape and soak it in. It is a large tidal pool where we enjoyed the silence and absence of civilisation. For those of you with an iphone, I have 100 of my "best" in an application called "ifolio". This tree has a bit of a story I suppose. Those living in the Brisbane area know it as “Garry’s” tree….just kidding. It is a fantastic subject both for Sunrises and Sunsets and even night shots. Go and get it…hehe
