Mystical manifestation of Avalokiteshvara, beloved Buddhist bodhisattva of compassion, maybe better known to the Chinese as Kwan Yin (Quan Yin), or as Kannon to the Japanese. This version shows 11 heads and 8 principal arms, no way i was going to attempt to draw the other 992 arms. Om Mani Padmi Hum, (The Jewel in the Lotus), mantra of Avalokiteshvara, is shown at the bottom in Tibetan script.

I captured this image of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in March of 2000 in MacLeod Ganj, Upper Dharamshala, India. FEATURED IN THE HUMAN CONDITION GROUP ON 17.9.09 / FEATURED IN THE UN!TY GROUP ON OCT. 22/09 / FEATURED IN THE MULTI-RACIAL BEAUTY GROUP ON OCT. 30/09 / PLACED IN THE TOP TEN IN THE ‘HERO OF THE DAY’ CHALLENGE IN THE SPEAKING PHOTOS GROUP / FEATURED IN THE BEAUTIFUL GROUP ON NOV. 10/09 March 10th, 2000 was the 41st anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day of 1959. / Please click here to read His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s statement on this important day. I was very fortunate to have stayed in MacLeod Ganj during this important occasion, as I was able to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama three times during my three week stay in that lovely town. / This image was captured on my first very fortunate chance to see His Holiness! I owe this tremendous gift to a Tibetan monk whom I had befriended in town, who had called my guesthouse early one morning to inform me that I would be able to see His Holiness give a speech of thanks toward the government of India and the people of India for greatly helping the people of Tibet since their exile. The visiting travelers and tourists of MacLeod Ganj were not made aware of this speech, and as such, I was one among only a few westerners in a relatively small crowd, sitting on the grass of His Holiness’ residence (where he offers monthly public audiences); there to witness what really felt like a real living angel!!!!! It was a surreal moment to see His Holiness walk past me… as you can tell from the angle of the capture, and as mentioned above, I was sitting on the grass.. which made for a lovely composition of this beautiful soul! / Although it has been nine years, I can still feel today what I felt then as I saw His Holiness. I believe His Love, Wisdom and Compassion permeates the hearts and minds of all people he encounters and all the places he visits. I feel so blessed to have been in his presence. On the second occasion, during the same day, in a different location I was able to witness His Holiness and some other key speakers deliver speeches addressing the 41st anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day to a large crowd of locals and visitors. The third occasion was truly extraordinary!!! This is actually what made me decide to travel to MacLeod Ganj… after learning from a fellow traveler in Thailand, that it is possible to receive a blessing and shake His Holiness’ hand, as he gives monthly public audiences, I immediately made plans to visit MacLeod Ganj!!! / I very gratefully received a blessed white scarf, and was able to shake His Holiness’ hand outside on a grassy area of His Holiness’ residence! This was an incredible experience for me which I will treasure eternally. —-—-—-—-——- My images do not belong to the public domain. All images are copyright © Tatum Wulff. All Rights Reserved.
