  • The thunderstorm in this photograph was taken on the top-end wetlands late in the build up season…only weeks before this area was a dustbowl, yet weeks later it becomes a floodplain ! As the storm surged across the lush plains it dumped heavy rain and some shortlived reprieving cool winds. / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2007 bubblesite / photography blog / portfolio —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking on the preview image below. / / / /

  • after many many hours and km’s…. this storm was dead and I thought I had missed a ‘dream shot’. The lightinging had become so sparse it seemed ridiculous even sitting on the beach to watch, yet alone be set up to photograph lightning ! / But alas ! this storm had one final freak discharge to exult to earth….ahhh….patience and persistence. :) / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking below / /

  • Lightning striking in the mountains behind a home in the Arizona desert.

  • The Tornado and the Tree was shot in the spring of 2004 in south Kansas and was the first tornado in an out brake of tornados. This one storm cell had 10 tornados as it moved east north east along the Oklahoma Kansas line. The StormPhoto.net chase log (story about the chase) can be seen here If you live in apart of our world that gets severe weather please see my weather safety tips And have a plan and know what you would do, when the sky goes black. • Monsoonal thunderstorm at 4am, Darwin. / Rollieflex SL66, Fuji Velvia film. The orange color is created by smoke from fires which are common at that time of year. It is a time exposure though, so many of the ‘in cloud’ lightning flashes illuminate the cloud progressively during exposure of about 2-3 minutes. So it’s not exactly the same as what the eye sees at any one moment. © Ern Mainka

  • I’ve only been to Darwin once – in the summer of 1997 to visit my brother. I timed the trip to maximise storm potential though opportunities remained limited while I was there. Fortunately this storm put out some nice lightning near Darwin Airport.

  • The Farm is a scenic view of one of the many farms on the rural outskirts of Canberra. Behind the scenes / Often, images are born of hard work, careful planning and a lot of patience. Sometimes though, a wonderful scene will appear by chance. It was late in the day when a storm front came over forming some striking cloud formations over the pale brown landscape. The subdued light and limited colours made for a scene similar to a pastel painting. / Canon 1Ds mkIII | EF 100-400mm Artwork / The soft pastel tones and simple composition of this work make it a fantastic addition to your decor. Let The Farm be a window into a peaceful landscape as a framed print or enjoy its’ simple beauty as a canvas. © 2008 A Spence. All Rights Reserved
