A photo of black thunderclouds, reflected to enhance the stormy atmosphere.
My most popular work to date…. This photograph was taken on a gorgeous evening following a pacific storm that rolled through the northwest. The Columbia River, where this was taken, spans out almost five miles at the mouth. During low tide, mudflats expose and reflect the colors of the sunset for gorgeous photographs. This evening was exceptional with the fast moving thunderclouds passing by, lighting up the sky. Post-processing include HDR, and some dodging to even out the balance of the photo. / I hope you like it!
Two detailed lightning strikes, one making a circle in the sky, with nice cloud definition and a desert landscape.
Huge lightning bolt striking in Cave Creek, Arizona.

Lightning in the Arizona desert.
Taken in Northern Territory, Australia. A very hot and sunny day was dramatically interrupted by this giant rain cloud surging across the plain. I managed a couple of shots but less than 10 minutes later I was completely soaked and shaking rain water from most of my equipment. See my video on YouTube
A landscape shot captured at the edge of my city. Some beautiful thunderclouds were rolling in…

The tiny stop sign half hidden in the trees was a feeble warning to stop and go back, there was a huge storm on its way.

Usually clouds come in on the horizontal – but I liked how this vertical edge of the cloud was mirrored by the pine tree. It’s also a neat combo of the clear, fluffy and sharp items all side by side.
A well developed cumulunimbus or thundercloud above a small lake on the Alaska-BC border. The system was growing rapidly, its height and width changing visibly. I slightly over-used the c. polariser, but I don’t mind it as the structure of the cloud is well shown (Alaska).
A huge system of thundercloud (cumulunimbus) developing right in front of me while driving in northern Alberta close to Northwest Territories.
I cought this developing thundercloud at sunset when the rays of the sun were illuminating only its upper parts painting the whole system with orange-reddish colour. I used a circular polariser at 90% to enhance the colours and bring out the structure of the cloud.
Panoramic view of the lake Geneva surrounded by high mountain ranges. The storm cloud system towering above them stayed on the French side of the lake. A view from our hotel room located on the lakefront (Switzerland).
I drove out of Calgary towards Chestermere. I heard thunders, the dark heavy clouds cought up with me. It started to rain in a flash, however towards the west where the Sun was setting, the clouds broke up and let the rays in. Then I had one of the most beautiful rainbow displays I have ever seen. Both rainbows were bright and well defined. My only problem was that the deluge was so heavy and long that I could not go outside and capture the whole arc. I waited till the rain subsided, then took this image.
A wide-field view of the hilly Southdowns red with poppies and with developing thunderclouds to the north. The image is stitched together from two shots to create a panoramic feel (near Brighton, UK).
A developing storm system rolling in from the English Channel (La Manche) and towering above small villages. The turbulent boiling and rising within the cloud was clearly visible (Poyning, UK).
A half-panoramic view of a developing storm system above small villages behind the hills of the English Southdowns. The turbulent boiling and rising within the clouds was wonderfully visible (Poyning/Fulking area, UK).
