Driving through the recently burnt out Porongurup Ranges, we came upon an expanse of these gorgeous Western Australia Grass Trees (Xanthorrhoea) – unique and totally different to those we’d ever seen before. The Grass Tree’s were the only living thing after a devastating fire – thriving in the ashes! / (Shutter Speed 1/2000; F-Stop 2.8)

I really love exposed roots. I saw so much in this. We went up to the forest today, aside from the unexpected weather (was not prepared for it to snow on us, brrr), I was able to get a few good pictures. I played with the contrast and levels to get a good look and feeling to this. I wanted to try bringing out what I saw and also focus on the texture. Hope you like?! /
These determined leaves were GOING to find a place to thrive, and what better place than in the protected hollow of a tree?!
Simone is finished with gardening in soil. Everything she planted died, mostly due to over watering. The logical conclusion was to create hybrid plants that thrive submerged in water. For your pleasure Simone’s / thriving aquatic tulip. Please view this image in the larger format.

You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don’t. You have wings. Learn how to use them and fly. RUMI, 13th century poet inspiring you to know your destiny… Let there be Love
As I walk this Native American path of the “Good Red Road” / I awaken to say good morning to Grandfather Sun, in ode; Gratitudes spoken to the four directions and All Our Relations / Father Sky and Mother Earth, not leaving out any Creations; I raise the pipe high, letting smoke rise to the Spirit, so great / asking for peace and abundance in messages to generate; Towards the “Blue Road to Spirit”, my soul flies high to seek / For my sisters and brothers to thrive whether strong or weak; As Grandmother Moon rises, again I will drum, dance and sing / Until the ways of our ancestors’ prayers are brought upon wings; Proud to be related to the clawed, finned, crawling and standing / my voice will be heard in the stars of great truth and understanding. The weeds have had much to celebrate this year, with plenty of rain and a good mix of sun to keep them thriving. Soon the crisp autumn air will cause them to wither and fade until next year… LavenderMoon~
