The Huldra is a creature in Scandanavian Myth that takes on the appearance of a beautiful young woman so it can lure it’s male victims into the forest (with the promise of kinky sex no doubt!) where she devours them.. The Huldra is a shapeshifter and often is in a “inbetween” stage where half of her torso is a hollowed out tree..which she can slip in and out of as need be… Technical stuff for all you PhotoShop geeks – This took approximately 12 hours to do and has 27 layers (several of those layers are “adjustment layers” (especially using “curves”)as well as the usual texture and color overlays..) / All photographs used (model, forest background, tree trunk ,vines, and textures) were shot by me – absolutely no stock images used…
I have been an agnostic leaning towards athiest for a long long time – but the concept behind this muse is one I whole-heartedly “believe”.. We ARE our anscestors -and DNA is the magic spiral that the the ancients knew so well

As sure as the sun rises each morning, so it is with God’s Great Faithfulness to watch over, protect and provide for each of us, His children. The dawning of a perfect Autumn day as the sun creeps up through the mist that has settled over Thompson’s Creek, on the historic Charlemont sheep station. Lamentations 3:22-24 (New International Version) / New International Version (NIV) 22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, / for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; / great is your faithfulness. 24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; / therefore I will wait for him. The words to the wonderful old hymn penned back in 1923, still stand testament today! Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; / There is no shadow of turning with Thee; / Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not; / As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be. Refrain Great is Thy faithfulness! / Great is Thy faithfulness! / Morning by morning new mercies I see. / All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; / Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter. Buy it here ThomasDodd.com/Store.. There is a phenomenon that Jazz musicians call “Woodshedding” which is when a player retreats from the world of playing gigs and locks himself in a room (or woodshed as the case may be) until he “gets it right”..or has a breakthrough in his skill/creativity level.. Interestingly enough an artistic form of woodshedding is precisely what inspired this piece ; I have consciously been working on getting better as an artist and this piece represents the breakthrough – both in technique and in inspiration… Quite frankly – it is the first piece that I am truly satisfied with, the first where there isn’t a little voice telling me that I am not good enough and it is now the benchmark for my future works… I am never looking back again…
