Each time I take the Metro in Paris I look at people and think – who are they, where are they going, what do they do in life? They often look lost in their thoughts: are they worried, are they thinking of a loved one? Most of the time though it seems they are dreaming about a better life… I hope I’m wrong and that most are just tired after a long day at work. For those who don’t speak French the graffiti on the wall say: “Consume and shut up”, and “To be born, to consume, to die”.

I drew this a few years back when I was first experimenting with pen and watercolours. / I’ve always liked the drawing but not known what to do with it, so I’ve kept it simple and added it to the bubble!

My fifth and last entry for the 2008 Canon Photo5 Competition. / All done – at last!!! Description / I shot a series of bubbles which I later combined with another shot I took of a work mate. My aim was to represent our thoughts and how we sometimes can look into them too much. The elements were composited together in Photoshop, cleaned up and enhanced and this is the end result.

/ Journey of a Thousand Thoughts / the drawing prior to photoshopping I drew this last night in bed….with a sketch pad on my lap, by a lowlit lamp…..the eyes came first, as usual…....then the rest…...until i had but a head…..and no room for a body…... I thought what can I add to make this more about me, more interesting….then i remembered the beautiful hot air balloons I’d seen recently photographed by my friend Steven Agius and a while ago some other balloons taken by my friend Jeannette Sheehy and I thought it would make a great balloon….drifting away through the atmosphere, deep in thought….that’s how i often find myself…semi self portrait Drawn with pencil on A3 acid free cartridge paper. / Coloured in photoshop

sometimes we just do not choose to stop thinking thoughts that cause us deep pain and saddness. I know this to be true. One day after much help from the desire that was great in my heart to be relieved of such painful choices, I finally saw the light after many years of searching for my truth. / When I came to understand that my own choice of thoughts made me feel either good or bad I began to be conscious of my thinking and started to take full responsibility for my thoughts. What freedom I have discovered in taking responsibility for my happiness. I do not have to depend on people places or things to make a choice of a thought that feels a little better or a little worse or continue to think exactly what is causing my own pain. It is a daily practice and I am not perfect at it. Infact I can go for a few days with thoughts that are quite painful. But you know.. it beats years of it!! / Years to months to days to weeks to hours to minutes to NOW.. / I am shooting for IMMEDIATE GRATIFACATION.. TEE HEE… /
