He stole the heart (the strongest one) / The one with wings that would have flown. He stole the heart (before it grew) / No note the harm deceit would do. He stole the heart (and sad to say) / Filleted its soul with fork and knife. He stole the heart (the one with wings) / But stronger souls can trump a King. Actual artwork is 12” x 12”. Mixed media mosaic, framed in 2” deep, distressed brown solid wood shadow box that can be opened. My work is hand-beaded by gluing each bead, jewel and embellishment one by one onto foam-core using tweezers and toothpicks. I love this kind of meditative labor. I use leather, brass and silver charms and hundreds of Czech and Japanese bugle beads.

The Thief of Time has been pecking around, extruding himself into your dimension, and stealing the odd moment. This is an image of a raven, sketched initially with pencil and pen and ink, then heavily digitally edited.

This is the result of a collaboration with Jan Piller. Her bird, my candy… we replaced a nut with the candy. Even though this image was created, it does hit the truth pretty close to the mark. When I was young, my dad fed a Stellar’s jay raw sunflower seeds every day at work. The bird knew him and knew my dad had seeds, and would visit him as a matter of routine. One day I had lunch with him at work and offered the bird some food from my plate… the bird ignored the tiny scrap I offered, hopped right past my hand and selected a larger morsel for himself! Thief!
