Concept, styling, photography, production, model – me. This was extremely spontaneous, pretty much did it this afternoon. Was wrapping up a friends bday present and had about 4 metres of the paper left. Stuck the whole lot to the wall and set up the shot. Recently bleached my hair again so with curls the look sort of took on a deranged goldilocks element, hence the title. Enjoy :D

I am still working on the other images in this series. I like challenging myself in new ways, with my self-portraits. And i thought it would be interesting to see if i could make it look like i was interacting with myself . . . in some way. I shot this series against a green screen. The background was taken from a photo-shoot i did at an industrial site in Seattle, Washington. The watchman was kind of enough to let me onto the grounds and gave me a tour and all access pass with my camera. I wanted to convey the extreme sadness i feel with manic depression. Over the years i have discovered that sadness is often anger, spread really thin, masquerading as melancholy. Anger is an emotion i have a very difficult time allowing myself to feel and express, i often repress it. As a child i was not allowed to express my feelings or my anger. There is a detachment that comes with sadness, a disconnect from the self, from the world . . . BUT i am in a good place at the present moment and i am getting better at managing the emotional tidal waves that manic depression brings. / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / You might also like . . . / / —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— / View All Art » 1 2 3 4 5 6 browse Jaeda’s photographic art by category: / dreamscapes, artistic nudes, couples, glamour, erotica, conceptual, sensual, portrait, spiritual, survivor art / /
Acrylic on Canvas 75×100cm. (Commission – Original Sold) A snippet from my blog 21 April 2009 / Painting Commission – Claudia’s Gift A couple of months ago I was asked to do a rather unusual commission. I say unusual because the buyer saw a painting of mine on the internet. They considered purchasing it, but after much deliberation decided instead to commission a work. The original inspiration for their commission being my painting ‘Between Takes’ as pictured below. / ! / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/backingcolor:white/product:greeting-card/view:preview/2340565-4-between-takes.jpg! The young buyer (through her Mum’s wallet) had several requests and thankfully they put them all together in a brief for me which I worried about being able to stick to. / Here’s a snippet of that brief: / She likes the female in Between Takes because she is: / -Pretty, elegant and sassy with delicate features, yet she is fun, bold and out there / -She is wearing a very fashionable/designer/funky outfit (very youthful appearance with use of the striped legs) / -She loves the white fluff of the skirt, it is interesting and softens the outfit beautifully / -it is a full body painting and not just a head and torso / -it is simple and clean with not too much distraction, it is very much about the girl / -she’s not wearing any jewellery / -fun dramatic/theatrical feel / -bold yet delicate/beautiful detail / -she loves the colours and in particular the lime green/yellow background / Colours she likes: / -pink/purple/lime yellow/lime green/black/gray/silver/white / Other Preferences: / -Medium length layered hair/colour similar to By The Light Of The Silver Moon (no fringe/medium brown with purple/other coloured streaks) / -Eye colour being hazel/green / -Devon Rex Tigerlily Purple (larger female cat) / -Cat not to dominate painting / We did wonder if we could incorporate fashionable fairy wings in her designer outfit (fluff and silver leaf perhaps)?! Commissions can be difficult because they normally come after a painting that has been painted intuitively. I tend to just paint and enjoy the process and let my instincts lead me. With commissions there is much more work on a conscious level – and the challenge is in being able to please the buyer, stick to the brief, maintain a sense of spontanaity and most importantly not to compromise one’s own style and enjoyment. After all, a painting done without love and enjoyment is not a painting worth owning. One only needs to look at the thousands of cheap mass produced paintings being produced in Asia and then later easily discarded when the decor is changed. I strongly feel that work of this type diminishes the value of one off pieces painted with love and care, not to mention that these are potential artists with much to offer the world, churning our mass produced cheap pieces because of the need to support their families. / / So, with all this in mind, and me being well and truly a month over the patient client’s requested deadline, I present to you “Claudia’s Gift”. One thing must be said and that is that the photograph doesn’t do this painting justice. The small elements of silver leaf, pearlescent effect and subtle textures are lost and flattened out in the digital image. However, I think the photograph still enables the viewer to enjoy an overall sense of the completed artwork. Thank You as always for visiting… and stay safe. x Carmen. It is too small to be much of a meal, shows how much God pays attention to. “The very hairs on your head are numbered.” and then this happened amongst two .. we didnt know each other really .. but this came of our art. as we became friends.. throught the process of creating this peice. oh , please read more when you got a changce and visit it here / Hope is a thing with Feathers / Sold*!! :).. aw thank you so much to the buyer!
All images are © Copyright Rosa Cobos . All rights reserved I invite you to hear and see the video-clip that has emerged from the artistic and soul’s endevour of Samuel Gibert Cobos, our youngest son. The result fo his hardship was “The Soul In White” a theatre experience, written and performed by himself. And we…his family…soul in soul are participating with the whole being. / VideoPoem recited by Rosa Cobos / TheSoulInWhite (Epiphany ) We have not been born just once… / leaving a streak of blood… / long forgotten, / that we cannot touch, / so Time has dried up the anguish of that moment. / it seems that … the birthing is a a pulsing phenomenon. / As if gods would have blinked with violence, / shattering our presence from their strange hearts… / and lost visual contact with our Flesh and Spirit. Then… we become like exiled… / Love is denied… / We open our mouths gasping for it.. / We twist in pain… not knowing where… / we can use our hands, tongue, lips, sex.. / to smooth the roughing birthing, / to clean the salty tears… / to echo the moaning of the womb. / We ask….. / resounding with the Eternal Suffering.. / why?.... / And we fall… / under the heavy world… / too sweated our shoulders, / to hold it… / and walk… and sustain, / the homo erectus…. / watching the horizon… / brave. Soul in White…. / Trembling like the shimmering snow, / muffling sounds and beatings. / May be.. / is there… / oh..I can feel them… / the Words… / bursting out like crocusses, / under the icy flakes. / Creativity….in motion. / She is my owner.. / not that I own… anything… / not even the pain… / for that seems… is the reason, / for the human understanding, / of cycles of Light and Darkness. / So they told me… that… / I could lie my puzzled soul / on both. The Hermit has awakened, / from his ego-centered… self-pity, / insuflating oxigen to the lamp, / that the living Soul needs for pathing. / The Nine has opened like a seed, / slightly bended…. / head downwards… a new baby. / And then.. the stories open. / like the castle’s windows, / that had been bricked under a siege. / Oblivion… / not needed, / for it deletes the feelings, / as if the sun had scorched the Life, / of that so finely, sensible, vibration… / going under the tissues of the Heart. / Re-membering the puppet, / that had been left without strings, pulse, nerves. / Now the mirror is Life itself, / and the stage in any size… / is huge… profound as the firmament. Soul in White… / Epiphany of the emerging Essence World. / Rosa Cobos VideoPoem recited by Rosa Cobos
Taken in Wrexham, North Wales, UK. I always wonder why day to day make up has to be so ‘same same’ I’d love to walk down the street with my face made up this way without getting strange looks from people ;-) I thought the make up complimented the models personality, she is bright, bubbly and entertaining but also has another (off stage) side which is real, honest and natural. Hence the two opposing sides to the face. Model: Katy Summer Make up by Lydia Griffiths. - - FEATURED in ‘Anything Theatrical’, ‘Model Beginnings’, ‘British Portrait Artists’ and ‘Make-up, Hair and Costumes’
30cm x 30cm acrylic painting completed 13 November 2009. / Painted on 300gsm acrylic paper Courtesy Wikipedia Earle K. Bergey (August 26, 1901 – 1952) was an American illustrator who painted cover art for a wide diversity of magazines and paperback books. Today Bergey is best recognized for creating the iconic cover of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes for Popular Library at the height of his career in 1948. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bergey attended Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts from 1921 to 1926. He initially went to work in the art department of the Philadelphia’s Public Ledger, and he drew the comic strip Deb Days in 1927. Early in his career, Bergey contributed many covers to the pulp magazines of publisher Fiction House. By the mid 1930s, Bergey made a home and studio in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and he married in 1935. Many of his paperbacks are now cult classics, some featuring hidden self-portraits. Bergey died suddenly in 1952 in a doctor’s office with family at his side. The cover of La Paree Stories (1935) (adapted from the original ‘Pretty as A Peacock) is in the Public Domain due to failure to comply with required formalities (ie. 1923 through 1977 published without a copyright notice). / Original Image can be seen here and here / / / ! / My zazzle gallery has a premium range of gifts that are suitable for people of all ages and tastes: an eclectic collection of unusually imaginative, hip and sometimes beautiful designs.
