  • A chance visit to a spot that I had long been meaning to checkout with my camera, situated at the end of a track called Spray Farm Rd, half way between Port Arlington and Drysdale, Victoria. On arriving the sky was grey, dull and uninspiring to say the least but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and decided to take a walk along the shore to kill some time and give the sun a chance to get lower in the sky. After about 1/2 hour of waiting the light and colors were transformed almost instantly, luckily I already had my tripod and camera over my shoulder and ready to go.

  • Estelle, an overly beautiful life-model and dancer, with incredible curls. Theatre Box is one from a series where I have taken the same sketch and added layers to create different scenes. Enormous fun in doing so, like dressing up a doll. Pencil drawing, digital overlay.

  • The lovely Alhambra at Bradord. See more about the theatre here

  • This is the Concert Hall of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It sits on the edge of the ocean and waves at passers by. Creation of Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It resembles a wave arching over the city and I like the sharp lines of the building and the fact that it looks different from every side.

  • MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER For more detailed information on the theatre that put the Palace in the term “Movie Palace* go to* http://www.statetheatre.com.au/about_history.html The State Theatre is without doubt a truly magnificent and unique building. Its importance has been recognised by The National Trust of Australia that has classified it as “a building of great historical significance and high architectural quality, the preservation of which is regarded as essential to our heritage”. Alongside other Sydney icons, the State Theatre occupies a magical place in the hearts and minds of generations of its patrons. For over 70 years it has enchanted and captivated all those who have used and continue to use its surroundings and facilities. Since opening in 1929, this 2000 seat venue has been owned and operated by the Greater Union Organisation, part of the AHL group of companies. The inspirational design of architect Henry White fuses eclectic elements of Gothic, Italian and Art deco design to produce an exquisite theatre, which can truly be described as a “Palace of Dreams”. The State Theatre palatial interiors feature artworks and fixtures of rare significance. The Dress Circle gallery houses artworks by significant Australian artists including William Dobell and Charles Wheeler whilst located in auditorium, the Koh-I-Nor cut crystal chandelier is the second largest on earth, weighing over four tonnes. From the opening performance, the State Theatre has been an integral part of the social and cultural fabric of Sydney. Its unparalleled history is a reflection of a dynamic city’s changing face, acting like a mirror to nearly a century of progress. It was created as the “Palace of Dreams” and through fun, laughter, music, drama, romance and art it will continue to reflect the dreams and hopes of all those who grace its doors. So why not take a “walk back through time” By clicking any of the “thumbnails” below you can take a look at the past and see why the State Theatre is so special. • Imagine being born again. Only this time your mother is the earth and you come fully equipped with memories, knowledge and a belief system. What raw emotions are evoked when the first thing you are confronted with is an environment completely foreign to what you were expecting? / Fear, confusion, doubt and loneliness. / Or because of the new environment one may lose their inhibitions, feel joy or perhaps discover inner strength and courage. Maybe the nine images are a true metaphorical reflection of the artists soul? / His background and love for the stage and theatre. / His longing to find true love and a wanting audience. / The ongoing battle of time and money between industry and creative / fulfilment. • Featured in Anything Theatrical Group The Palais Theatre is a former picture theatre now functioning as a live performance venue located in St Kilda, Victoria, Australia. The building, which retains all its original features is considered one of the finest examples of Art deco architecture in Australia and is on the Victorian Heritage Register. Interiors and exteriors are inspired by Moorish architecture with twin dome towers, a theme shared by many surrounding buildings in the suburb, including Luna Park which is adjacent to the south, the St Kilda Pavilion, St Kilda Sea Baths and Walter Burley Griffin’s Palais de danse which once stood adjacent to the west but was destroyed by fire. The exteriors also feature faux Egyptian elements, whilst the interiors also include Baroque inspired elements. Canon 450D / ISO 1600

  • The old Alameda Theatre on Alameda Island in San Francisco Bay. the theater has been carefully restored to it’s original 1930’s glory. A must-see for theater buffs.

  • MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGER Sydney was once the home of many Theatre Palaces, unfortunately through the years these grand old buildings gave way to so called “Progress”. Well at least a few survived such is the case with the Capitol Theatre in Sydney’s Haymarket district, and has had many purposes including a circus site. Here is one of the staircases beautifully resored, I walked past the theatres entrance and initially thought they would not let me in the foyer with a camera so i asked and this is the result. The Capitol reinvents the atmosphere of the 1930s with all its opulence, but incorporates modern elements with style and elegance. The Capitol features an exterior from 1892, when it was the new Belmore market building. The refurbished Capitol Theatre offers the public a unique theatre experience, as the only atmospheric cinema in the country restored and fully developed to a major lyric theatre and achieves the preservation of a vital piece of Australian theatre and architectural history Capitol Theatre: Equipment:Nikon D300 sigma 10-20mm lens / Technique:HDR, 5 bracketted images, handheld,Photomatix, capturenx and noise ninja
