Well, it is that time of year again, when the pumpkins are ripe and out in the fields. The corn stalks are turning brown and for us the leaves are just starting to turn colors. Welcome to autumn.

This isn’t a shot of a building that I flipped in Photoshop. It’s designed to look this way if you stand in the corner and shoot almost straight up. I did take a bit of tweaking as it’s not designed to be perfectly symmetrical. One wing of the building is shorter than the other. It’s a really well designed building with a wonderful abstract quality. Love the skyscrapers of MIdtown Manhattan.
November can generally be a dull month but in this grove of “Spirit Birch” near the shore of Lake Superior at Duluth, Minnesota, the forest was alive with songs and whispers on a snowless Thanksgiving Day. Printed, double matted and framed, this is a very compelling image.
Featured in First Things, Painted Nature, and Color Me a Rainbow groups Acrylic on 9×12 canvas board- Inspired by the song “Open Channel” by Kan’Nal. This entire piece was created while listening to both of Kan’Nal’s CDs on repeat. (Dreamwalker & Kan’Nal) I was in a very bright mood and felt that it translated onto the canvas in the yellow background. As I was letting it dry, I kept being drawn to the song ‘Open Channel’. Everytime the chanting and primal beats of the chorus would start, I would have to get up and move my body. It’s impossible to listen to this band and not feel the urge to move! “And there was always something / Up in the mountain and in the ocean, / A channel that is open to anyone / who would listen to, I listen to it. Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh / Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh / Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh / Ooh jah a leh ah Ooh jah a leh leh leh leh” Each time I would close my eyes, I would see vibrant bursts of reds and oranges against all that yellow. So I started with the random drips of paint blown about by my straw. The tree trunk, branches, and roots came next. Something about the title, ‘Open Channel’, made me depict the tree connected to nothing….and everything at the same time. I added the darker red leaves/petals and began looking over the painting to see if I was, indeed, finished. ‘Palenque Rain Song’ was playing, the soft sound of rain drops filling my head. (This is a wonderful meditation song!) During the rain, a bell chimed – it was like someone hitting a gong or turning on a switch in my head. I knew then that there were some little faeries that wanted to live in this tree. They are not detailed, they are glowing with energy, they resemble dragonflies because the viewer does not yet see them as real beings. This was a part of my first feature in ‘The Buyer’s Booth’ Open Channel Lyrics / Kan’Nal
This was taken just outside my door on the Eastcoast of Vancouver island B.C. Canada, taken with a Canon G9 right from the the Camera!

Created in Ultra Fractal 5.01 This fractal reminds me of those golden days of autumn, when the countryside wears a new dress, and coloured leaves have me reaching for my camera! The wind blows, a shower of golden leaves fall to cover the ground with a glowing carpet of color. Wonderful images to treasure, and light one through the dark winter! /

Featured in Rural Around The Globe November 10, 2009. Best on Full Size I’ve been sitting on this one since spring … waiting for the proper season to bring him out in all his glory. Captured in the wilds of Arizona up in the mountains not far from Green Valley and Tucson. Was using the Nikon D40x at the time with my trusty 70-300mm vr Nikon lens and must say everything I shot with that lens was crap. Pardon me. But it was bad. Have since learned about the sweet spot of an ap between f/8 and f/11 … so for any of you out there with this lens, take heed. I so adored the turkey shot, tho, that with a lot of hand tooling of the dodge and burn variety using my blessed Wacom Intuos 4 tablet, I think we got a usable image out of the day. And of course the textures hid a multitude of sins, lol!!! Shutter was 1/320, aperture was f/5.6, focal length 180, iso 400. Hdr in Photomatix from a single hand-held jpeg, duped to evals of +/-2 in Photoshop … and a couple of added textures Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!! And don’t forget … everyone loves hot dogs!!!!!! Also available with Thanksgiving Wishes!!
