  • The beautiful views at Dusa above the Lobuche Khola valley in fresh snow, with Ama Dablam 6856m to the left and the jagged peak of Taboche Peak 6367m, right. Sagarmatha National Park, Nepal.

  • The striking peaks of Kangtega 6685m and Thamserku 6608m as seen from camp at Lobuche 4910m. The mountain wind is a freezing, brisk breeze across the glacial moraine valley surrounded by famous peaks. This view mesmerises me, I’m so glad I took this shot!

  • Taboche Peak 6367m rises majestically from the floor of the valley of the Lobuche Khola River in the Nepalese Himalayas. To the right is Cholatse with her 6335m peak just in the clouds. At the foot of the valley above the village of Pheriche rises the twin peaks of Kangtega 6685m with Thamserku 6608m to her right. The fresh snow fell deep in the valley the night before. These mountains are some of the world’s most famous and the Sagarmatha National Park is their home.

  • What a wonderful place to live, visit, be.

  • Longponga Tso (Gokyo First Lake) is the last lake before the meltwater from the Ngozumba Glacier cascades down to form the headwaters of the Dudhkoshi. Kang Tega and Thamserku and rise across the other side of the unseen valley.

  • Looking downstream, the headwaters of the Dudhkoshi, and Thamserku rising in the distance.

  • The bottom of the Gokyo Valley, looking across jagged rocks and the tail end of Longponga Tso to Kang Tega and Thamserku. Photo taken using a Canon 400D, 17-85mm IS Lens

  • Kang Tega and Thamserku watch from a distance as the cloud rolls in and up the Gokyo Valley. I watch from atop the Ngozumba Glacier’s Lateral Moraine above Gokyo.

  • From the top of the moraine behind Gokyo, far to the north (left) lies Cho Oyu at 8153m, the birthplace of this great glacer. Down the mountain it comes, sliding, grinding its way slowly past, then further south towards Kang Tega, Thamserku. Ever so slowly, but constant, audible, moving. This panorama is a composite of 7 photos taken with a Canon 400D.

  • From the top of Gokyo Ri, far to the north (left) Gyachungkhung at 7952m, the birthplace of this great glacer. Down the mountain it comes, sliding, grinding its way slowly past Gokyo, Arakamtse and Dragnak, then further south towards Kang Tega, and Thamserku. Ever so slowly, but constant, audible, moving. Everest is at the centre, but obscured by cloud. We got up here just a little too late for the supreme Everest view… maybe next time :) This panorama is a composite of 11 photos taken with a Canon 400D. Featured in “Top Shelf Wildlife & Nature Art”.
