  • I used this royalty free clipart I purchased and some of my own photos and textures to make a new piece who’s title is inspired by the Tori Amos song Daisy Dead Petals. The lyrics are below because I can’t find a recording online. / / daisy dead petals / that is her name / she’s in a phone booth phase, so / underneath the shade of a peppermint tray / she can turn it out with a heel on / she just rides into town / knowing what they’ll say / knowing they’re around the corner / got a crack in / got a crack in some strange places daisy dead petals / that is her name / so maybe she tastes like a hamburger maid, well / these dead petals, honey, brought me here / she said, “these dead petals, honey, brought me here” dancing on a dime, / hearing mother cry / maybe she’s around the corner got a crack in / got a crack in some strange places / on my back with / on my back with some dirty dishes falling down, falling down / all over the river / falling down, falling down / falling down… wish what i’m feeling could / go on like this forever / falling down, falling down / falling down… and since we’re down / might as well stay / might as well fry some eggs / and wave to the shade of the peppermint tray / she’s a new friend not a skeleton / to ride into town / knowing what they’ll say / knowing she tastes like a hamburger maid, but / “these dead petals, honey, brought me here” / she said, “these dead petals, honey, brought me here” © Sword & Stone

  • Photomanipulation….one of my greatest pleasures…especially when doing a portrait. Thanks to my neighbor for growing the most beautiful roses to be found. Sincere thanks for your visit. Inspired by a song: Red Roses for a Blue Lady Model….with thanks to my fave!

  • YOU FILL ME UP You fill me up when I am empty, / Like no one else has done; / Pour warmth into my spirit, / Like rays from summer sun. You’ve placed a seed within me, / That has grown into a vine; / Of sheer unbridled passion, / Tendrils curled and intertwined. You fill me up when I am empty, / Like an overflowing cup; / No one else has ever filled me so, / Yet my Love, you fill me up. Allison Chambers Coxsey

  • It’s Winter in Australia, which means the Wattle is beginning to bloom. In my area we’ll soon be surrounded by a sea of bouncing little balls of yellow…... Did you know : / - Wattle is Australia’s official floral emblem, having adorned our Coat Of Arms since 1912. / - there are around 950 different species of Wattle….. which is why I have no clue as to which one this is! / - On 1 September 1910 the Sydney Morning Herald stated: / “To many Australians the wattle stands for home, country, kindred, sunshine and love; every instinct that the heart most deeply enshrines.”........ nice :) [canon 1000D, canon scanner for texture, PS watercolour] WINNER – Wattle challenge – October 2009

  • Artist’s Note: I love everything about the Fall: harvests of apples and pumpkins, cool evenings with full orange moon, windy days for kite flying, children dressing up in costumes… the Scarecrow / Standing among giants of sunflowers, / Bright pumpkins growing at my feet. / Crows caw and leaves float on the breeze, / Old green tractor chugs a lively beat. Children sweetly laughed into my hair, / Sticky hands with fresh straw to stuff. / Vintage clothes & buttons bound me now, / Soft cotton flannel is plenty warm enough. I may be made to look scary to a bird, / But really, aren’t I quite nice and smart? / Take this leather gloved hand to hold, / I am not fake, this body has a heart. Dorothy knew me, that courageous Lion too. / So, see my face and know I feel, / for in the mind of a child… / I become real.
