Late 80’s I worked full time job as a Textile Designer in a factory. / After my interview there, I got the job, and was told the story of the factory, by the owner, who was the manager also, Miko. / It was perhaps one of the first knitting factory, in Tel- Aviv , Israel {if not the first }... And it was a family factory, for 3 generation… started in Europe. / They used to be VERY SUCCESSFUL Factory, which also exported to Europe. / Lines of people were waiting outside the factory to buy their cloths. / Immediately after I got the job, Miko told me, YOU MUST SAVE US…. !! / We already had 2 bankruptcies. I was few months , just after finishing my studies… VERY YOUNG, And starting my way, in the Textile field… yet already sold few designs, to the local market and export. I was not even qualified to design knits , but printed fabrics… BUT… I felt inside a TOP DESIGNER… And had full faith of myself and my abilities. / Very fast I learned, that I have to design there, every textile item, that is needed. / I very much enjoyed my work and creativity there, in few ways. / One day , they decided, they wish, I’ll design embroideries for T-Shirts. / And so, I had few ideas, in my mind and sketches, that I made, and Miko invited / an embroider to the factory, to show her the work, and ask for the price. { At that time, all was done in the factory… and they were considering doing some of the works outside the factory, but not in China, as it is accepted these days }... And .. SO.. The embroider came to the factory and ask for very high price, according to my designs :-)) / It was expansive for the factory… YET… I had the STRONG fate of Miko, in ME. / He said to me, after the embroider went… / You, Nira will not give up any of your ideas for the designs, even if it’s expansive to the factory, especially in a time there was crisis. / SHE WOULD DO IT, IN OUR PRICE… Otherwise, we shall find someone else to do the embroideries for us. / And he add… NEVER GIVE UP YOUR IDEAS… NEVER.. ! / It was an important lesson in my life, for sure. / Believe in who you are, especially when you know who you are… I know who I am. / Mixed Media. / Copyrights (c) Nira Dabush

The textures and colours just drew me to this. / HDR… but a little out of focus unfortunatley Typical farmers market held in Suffolk, UK, selling local produce and goods. / It took several shots to capture this lady as she kept moving and people she knew would stand in front of her, she almost blends in with her goods.
For many years, the textile industry was a major mainstay in the North Carolina economy. Henry River Mill, near I40 between Hickory and Morganton, was one of them and housing for the employees was provided by the company. Two of the abandoned houses are shown here. There are several more clustered together here as well as an old two story general store. When the mill and village were built (c. 1905) there were 35 of these houses. About 21 are still there. The mill manufactured fine cotton yarn. Originally the power to operate it came from the river, then it converted to steam, and later to electricity. THe mill closed in the late 1960s. / It is an interesting place to see and though there are NO Trespassing signs all around, one can still see most from the road. For me, it is sort of spooky and sad to see as it represents a cultural and economic history that has been lost. forever.
Green has always been one of my favorite colours. Green was strong part of my childhood and adolescence. / I grew up at a room with Green Windows. / The colour of the uniform in schools, high schools and even the band I used to play in Ramat- Gan, Israel during that time – Green GREEN Green (70’s-80’s). / For MOST reasons, I used to love the Green.. Yet there were reasons that I disliked… oh yeah – THE UNIFORM ! :) That we were forced to wear. / Though, I enjoy wearing Greens myself. / One huge reason, for me to love this colour though is the colour of plants – Green. ( The leafs of a strawberry are Green as well, of course : ) The meaning of GREEN : / “Green is the color of nature, fertility, life. Grass green is the most restful color. Green symbolizes self-respect and well being. Green is the color of balance. It also means learning, growth and harmony. Green is a safe color, if you don’t know what color to use anywhere use green. Green is favored by well balanced people. Green symbolizes the master healer and the life force. It often symbolizes money. It was believed green was healing for the eyes. Egyptians wore green eyeliner. Green eyeshades are still used. You should eat raw green foods for good health. Friday is the day of green. Green jade is a sacred stone of Asia. / Green Energy Green contains the powerful energies of nature, growth, desire to expand or increase. Balance and a sense of order are found in the color green. Change and transformation is necessary for growth, and so this ability to sustain changes is also a part of the energy of green.” For GROWTH… Thanks for viewing and commenting. / Copyrights© Nira Dabush. / נ.ב: המבין הבין לדעתי… והספקולטורים ימשיכו בינתיים לעשות ספקולציות…. :-) / חלומות פז !

This is my entry for Anti-consumerism group’s Breath Easy challenge Hemp is the strongest natural fiber known to man, has the highest protein content of any plant in its seeds (porridge) and out performs most fibers. It is good to: Eat / Wear / Build / Fuel / Shelter / and on and on… ... and for the record it will give you headache to smoke it. America forbid it’s production in 1937. It is time for a policy change! Sam Dantone If there is any question of wether this is a source of renewable energy or not, here is how. Hemp is a farm/crop plant. In some cases two to three crops per year can be harvested. Hemp can be converted to vegetable oil which can be burned as fuel for home, vehicles, generators etc. Hopefully that will clear up some questions…
