  • One standing stone in this photography dominates the image while a burial cairn and other stones dot the sun drenched background. There is a lot of contrast between the land and sky in this landscape. Historical sites such as Stonehenge, and burial cairns dot the landscape of Britain. This site, Balnuaran of Clava, like the others, stands in mute testimony of the work and lives of an ancient peoples.

  • An orthodox Jew is praying at the western wall in Jerusalem. The wall also known as the wailing wall or the “Kotel” is the most sacred and holy place for jews. This is the last remaining wall from the old temple that was destroyed over 2000 years ago. This person is using the old testament bible. The black outfit is typical to the orthodox jews. • Daniel 3:14-18 Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you refuse to serve my gods or worship the gold statue I have set up? I will give you one more chance. If you bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments, all will be well. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. What god will be able to rescue you from my power then?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, Your Majesty can be sure that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

  • Acts 9:1-5 Saul was uttering threats with every breath. He was eager to destroy the Lord’s followers, so he went to the high priest. He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them – both men and women – back to Jerusalem in chains. As he was nearing Damascus on this mission, a brilliant light from heaven suddenly beamed down upon him! He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?” “Who are you, sir?” Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting!”

  • Genesis 3:1 “Really?” he asked the woman. “Did God really say you must not eat any of the fruit in the garden?”

  • Matthew 5:22 But I say, if you are angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you say to your brother, “Raca,” you are in danger of being brought before the high council. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell. ::sly smile:: Should that word get bleeped out if said on daytime TV, then? (Also inspired by Rene Magritte’s The Treachery of Images)

  • Jonah 2:10/ 3:1-2 The LORD ordered the fish to spit up Jonah on the beach, and it did. Then the LORD spoke to Jonah a second time: “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message of judgment I have given you.”

  • Matthew 14:22-29 Immediately after [feeding five thousand], Jesus made his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake while he sent the people home. Afterward he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone. Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. At about 3 o’clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on water. When the disciples saw him, they screamed in terror, thinking he was a ghost. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “It’s all right,” he said, “I am here! Don’t be afraid!” Then Peter called out to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you by walking on water.” “All right, come,” Jesus said.

  • Living Lighthouse Church, Palmerton, Pennsylvania After attending this church for several Sundays, I really took notice of how beautiful the stained glass windows were and the workmanship that must have gone into this art as a testament to the love of God. My Sony Cybershot goes with me even to church.

  • Part of the Window of the Lamentation in Cologne Cathedral . Mark the Evangelist (Greek: Μάρκος), is the traditional name of the author of the Gospel of Mark. / Tradition identifies him with the John Mark (Ioannis Markos) mentioned as a companion of Saint Paul in Acts, who later is said to have become a disciple of Saint Peter. / John Mark accompanied Paul and Barnabas (Mark’s cousin) on Paul’s first missionary journey. After a sharp dispute, Barnabas separated from Paul, taking Mark to Cyprus. / Later, Paul called upon the services of Mark and Mark was named as Paul’s fellow worker. / Mark’s mother was a prominent member of the earliest group of Christians in Jerusalem. It was to her house that Peter turned on his release from prison; the house was a meeting-place for the brethren, “many” of whom were praying there on the night Peter arrived from prison. A number of traditions have built up around Mark, though none can be verified from the New Testament. / Traditionally, Mark is said to be the man who carried water to the house where the Last Supper took place (Mark 14:13) and the young man who ran away naked when Jesus was arrested (Mark 14:51-52). / Mark is also said to be the one who hosted the disciples in his house after the death of Jesus, into whose house the resurrected Jesus Christ came (John 20), and into whose house the Holy Spirit descended on the disciples at Pentecost. Coptic tradition also maintains that Mark was one of the servants at the Marriage at Cana who poured out the water that Jesus turned to wine (John 2:1-11), and was one of the Seventy Apostles sent out by Christ. According to the Coptic church, Saint Mark was born in the Pentapolis of North Africa which would make him Greek, as since the 7th century BC the Greek founded several colonies on its coast and developed several major cities. / This tradition adds that he returned to Pentapolis later in life after being sent by Saint Paul to Colosse (Colossians 4:10) and serving with him in Rome (Phil 24; 2 Tim 4:11) ; from Pentapolis he made his way to Alexandria. / When Mark returned to Alexandria, the people there are said to have resented his efforts to turn them away from the worship of their traditional Egyptian gods. / In AD 68 they placed a rope around his neck and dragged him through the streets until he was dead. / From Wikipedia /
