    US$4.99–US$114.00

Patina (ˈpa tə nə) is a film on the surface of bronze or similar metals (produced by oxidation over a long period); a sheen on wooden furniture produced by age, wear, and polishing; or any such acquired change of a surface through age and exposure. On metal, patina is a coating of various chemical compounds such as oxides or carbonates formed on the surface during exposure to the elements (weathering). Patina also refers to accumulated changes in surface texture and colour that result from normal use of an object such as a coin or a piece of furniture over time. / Patinas are restricted to exposed surfaces and are fragile (that is, they can flake off). One reason bronze is so highly valued in statuary is that its patina protects or passivates it against further corrosion. This natural patina is solid and seldom shows a tendency to flake. Brass is also resistant to corrosion, but it is, in the long run, not as attractive since local pitting shows against the shiny background. / source: Wikepedia Dictionary :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patina credits: / MJRANUM for the torso / water and textures (photographs and digital paintings) by yours truly. © 2009 jokiargu creations / All rights rederved

  • We feel very strongly about animal rights and hope that someday our artistic efforts may help change some minds. Animal testing is a barbaric practice that is not only cruel, but also unnecessary and inconclusive. Some examples of testing alternatives used in the U.S. are: / / • National Cancer Institute adopted in vitro initial screen for anti-cancer compounds – immediately replacing more than a million mice per year. / / • Episkin – a reconstructed human in vitro epidermis for evaluation of corrosivity of cosmetics, pharmaceutical and chemical compounds. / / • Corrositex – a two-chambered system with collagen membrane. Color (pH) change when test chemical penetrates to indicator chamber (widely used in the U.S. and Europe for corrosivity testing). / / • Computerized chemical structure-activity relationship (SAR) and knowledge-based expert systems allow prediction of efficacy and safety/toxicity of new compounds. / / • Epiocular- a reproducible, multi-layered human cell-derived tissue for testing ocular irritancy of chemicals and other materials. / / • EpiAirway- is a three-dimensional culture of human tracheal-bronchial epithelial cells for pre-clinical studies of inhalation drugs. / / • Epiderm- is a reproducible, three-dimensional, human cell-derived skin tissue for studies of corrosives and irritants. / / • Ames test uses specific strains of common bacteria to detect genetic changes caused by test substances – mutagenesis and carcinogenesis possibilities. / / • Toxicogenomics utilizes DNA chips to identify pattern of gene changes characteristic of specific toxicity endpoints. Will ultimately replace nearly all current animal-based tests. / / Examples taken from the AAVS website. • Sea Urchins
    by Mark Wilson

    US$3.89–US$88.92

Sea urchins are small, spiny sea creatures of the class Echinoidea found in oceans all over the world. The name urchin is an Old English name for the round spiny hedgehogs sea urchins resemble. Their shell, which is also called the “test”, is globular in shape and covered with spines. The size of an adult test is typically from 3 to 10 cm. These urchin ‘tests’ were being sold alongside some large clam shells. Sold a Mounted Print on RedBubble to a Mystery buyer.

    by Jo O'Brien

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Recently we did a test shoot for two really funny and crazy guys who also happen to make music together, Jase and Tom after their manager aeris saw my stuff on RedBubble and decided I am shit hot at what I do. (I’m working on the modesty bit, I swear.) Anyway they really really didn’t want to do a photo shoot in a smelly, public, and damp mens’ toilet so naturally I nagged at them until they relented. Then the first thing their manager said upon viewing this image was “That one’s for RedBubble!” So here it is.

  • The Sky is Burning
    by jemimalovesbigted

    US$4.66–US$106.40

This is my first test film through my 8 holed pinhole camera It was shot just near Castlemaine in the bush on Fuji Reala with 5 second exposures… Not exactly sure why the film has come out with a red cast… some more investigative work will be required to knot that puzzle out.. I figured out it was because I loaded the film back to front and that is what happens with negs the wrong way round! Cool!!.. I am pretty happy with the results of the sharpness of focus and pretty consistent exposure as well…. More to come in the future!
