Taken with a Minolta 5xi on Fuji film The Plaka, Athens. Another of the many, many homeless cats in Greece, this little guy was good enough to pose for me in front of a fetching yellow wall precisely the same colour as his eyes!

Inside the ramshackle greenhouse were lots of abandoned terracotta pots. The scene was very melancholic and you felt like you were intruding on someone’s memories. Once again, taken on HP5 film and scanned into Photoshop. Once there I converted to Tri-tone using my own settings and finally I tweaked Levels to get the effect I desired.
While I was stuck at my aunts baby shower so that I could take pictures of everyone I started drift away form the crowd to do my own thing.
These terracotta pots were on the pier of a small fishing village in Portugal.

This one was taken about 5 years ago to use as a reference for a series of paintings that I was planning. / The paintings didn’t eventuate, so I’ve worked on it in PS instead…..
A new addtion to the Still Life series, “Still Life with Old Dandelion Stencil and Terracotta Pots” pays tribute to the lovely art of stenciling that experienced a resurgence in the 80s then got overexposed and trite…well know in Europe for centuries, in North America itinerant stencillors made a good living going from town to town with their tools…evidence of their beautiful work still remains today and is shown in museums around the world... / I chose to infuse this painting with the flavour of an old garden room, where the plaster has fallen off and the single stencil though greatly worn with age still looks beautiful…the terracotta pots which are so delightful to paint, add to the feeling of age…I have a number of these ancient pots, and though they are still under wraps right now, I know them so well I think I can reproduce them in my sleep...
