I’m not exactly sure what these things are, but they caught my eye one day at Monona Terrace.

This is a typical valley scen in South Wales, with terraces of houses buil up against the steep valley sides. Here in Blaengwynfi, they make such an interesting step pattern. To me, it is architectural beauty created partly through the difficulty in building in such a hilly area. It is a digital image from a colour original.

This image was taken on the Upper Terrace in Yellowstone National Park. There was little light to work with, but a few quick rays were enough. The steam from the geothermal activity around the scene kept the shadows away while allowing the light to add some much needed color.

The shot of this magnificent sunset was taken recently in January 2008 at six a clock from my terrace overlooking my garden in Nice,South East of France. / It was a splendid view, a great pleasure for my eyes !

Orange/brown part of Travertine Terraces as seen at Mammoth Hot Springs in the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park. Travertine is a form of calcium carbonate that is dissolved from limestone beneath the ground. It is then carried to the surface by hot water. The colors represent a variety of bacterial algae that survive at varous water temperatures.

Of all of them, those in Bali are the most beautiful. / The Balinese rice terraces go back over 2,000 years when hard-working farmers with primitive hand tools began carving the stepped terraces out of steep hill sides. Generation after generation has extended and kept them in meticulous shape out of necessity – rice is the staple food of the islanders.
