Ifugao Girl – Northern Luzon, Philippines. The Ifugao People are the predominant ethnic group in this part of Northern Luzon, Philippines. Their incredible rice terraces are very, very old. Many anthropologists consider these terraces to be among mankind’s greatest achievements. They are located at Banaue, about 12 hours north of Manila.
The rice terraces of Long Ji. This shot was taken from the tracks between the lookouts above Pingan. The rice was just getting ripe so there are touches of gold in the fields.

watercolor painting 18” x 24” on Arches cold pressed paper The Aguasabon (pronounced Ah-gwa-saw-bon) Golf course in Terrace Bay has a club house that is nestled at the base of terraced land above which, until recently closing, the pulp mill belched white smoke into the air. Although it’s a relatively short golf season north of Lake Superior, the location is beautiful and it’s a charming 9 hole public golf course.

Featured in First Things Group / I Do a Painting on occasion of Artists that have deeply touched & influenced me … this is my version .. I rendered in acrylic Its subtly different ..with much love to Van Gogh ~ who the world rejected in his time, & truly did not understand at all .. only a few did .. I Quote from Don MC Clean’s song Starry Starry night / Starry, starry night. / Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, Swirling clouds in violet haze, / Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue. / Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain, / Weathered faces lined in pain, / Are soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand. / For they could not love you, / But still your love was true. / And when no hope was left in sight / On that starry, starry night, / You took your life, as lovers often do. / But I could have told you, Vincent, / This world was never meant for one / As beautiful as you. ......
Watercolour painting of the Aguasabon River at Terrace Bay, Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Superior 12” x 16”
Acrylic of the Slates Island Provincial Park – not only are these islands about 8km out in Lake Superior but they boast a large herd of Carribou…. idyllic place in the middle of a very fickle and temperamental Lake ..
/ The Terrace Floor is part of the Series “The Trees”... Leaves pressed into the stone, broken twigs, moss, detritus of stains that have remained over the winter, imprinted forever by feet walking over them…small creatures living in the shelter of the leaves….nature’s own art work that changes every year…this is my interpretation of the relics of the seasons. Watercolour and Acrylic on Board….. Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away; / Lengthen night and shorten day; / Every leaf speaks bliss to me / Fluttering from the autumn tree. / I shall smile when wreaths of snow / Blossom where the rose should grow; / I shall sing when night’s decay / Ushers in a drearier day. Emily Bronte /
Watercolour painting 12” X 16” on cold press Arches Paper This is my first painting of 2009! / A winter scene of mile 30 sign post on Mill Road, north of Terrace Bay Ontario, on the north shore of Lake Superior. There was a bright hazy sun at the time, and I was entranced by the way the distant hill seemed to fade away.
