So…...another term almost over, at Hazelhurst. / Today I took the decision to sign up for next term. / I’ve considered joining a ‘local’ art society, instead. / So far, the one I’ve had contact with, via the phone, just doesn’t sound right for me. / So, why did I pay for enrolment, for next term? It makes me paint, to get a painting ready every week, to work on. / I appreciate the teacher (Melissa)’s advice. / I like the atmosphere, in the classes and believe that Melissa’s way of running the class, creates that. I like to think that the way she runs this class of adults, is very similar, to the way I used to run art lessons, for my primary pupils. / I shall miss Mb (MBartworks, next term but understand why she won’t return and that’s no reflection on this class, at all. / So, I drove home; weakened and still bought a bottle of wine on the way home. / And now, I’m telling you all about it!
Port Arthur is located in Tasmania , it is a National Heritage SIte, in the early days of transportation of Convicts, Van Diemans Land is about the farthest they could go. The site is a major tourist site , dotted with the remains of the buidings constructed by convict with blood sweat and pain. Cemetaries dot the site, including nearby Islands such as “The Isle of the Dead”. Park rangers run Ghost Tours by lantern light , enjoy the Ghost Tour holding the hand of your loved one …... or a spirit one !

3rd in a set of 4. / My G.G.Grandfather was transported out to Australia as a convict in 1839 from England, for stealing a Goose. / He was imprisoned at Hobart Tasmania and served his time, before travelling across to Victoria. / So I thought I would post these images as a tibute to him and show something of what it was like. / Another image taken inside the original lock up, outside the Sunbury Police Station.
Always been amused by the juxtaposition of St Francis church and Melbourne Central. Each paying homage to something completely different. One towering over the other in its physical form and one holding its own in a metaphysical sense. Interesting. / Decided to keep a mono treatment here, if nothing else to make a statement.
I return from work after dark, / praying there’s something left of my car. / I pay my fee and pass the pillars, / hoping, waiting, searching the vehicles. There it is, my shining light, / my chariot, my steed, my route to flight. / I mount, we march, we leave behind / the city, the speed, the pain, our mind. Once again, we’re free, we’re gone, / we’re out, we’ve left, we’re going home. :) Shot at Manchester Aquatic Centre Concrete Underground Car Parking Facility at Night

On holiday in Cromer and came across this rusty old partnership, it has for me an underlying message. It reminds me of marriage in many ways…..over time it can become a bit old and battered, or may end up wanting different things in different directions but if the muck hits the fan will still give each other a helping hand.
What I picture when someone says this phase. MY BUBBLESITE
Ma Puce in french means, My Flee. It’s a term of endearment and very cute. / This is my take on it.

An update journal has been posted to let you know that Facebook has reverted back to its old terms of service while they “resolve the issues”. ^^^^ February 17, 2009 Update: Read the article on the PCWorld site, Facebook Owns Your Business Data which was posted on February 17, 2009. User beware if you are a Facebook member! They have recently changed their terms of service and now have rights to everything you have posted, including your writing, artwork, and photography! Even if you delete it all today, they retain rights to everything you have posted up to that point. Your profile can be kept in Facebook’s archives indefinitely even though you are no longer a member. I saw this disturbing news on several blogs this morning. Here’s a link to one of the sites. Then if you want further confirmation, go to Facebook’s terms page and see it for yourself. If you are a member of Facebook, be very careful what you write as it could possibly come back to haunt you one day if Facebook decides to publish it. Before it is published they have the right to (and I quote from the terms) “modify, edit, frame, translate, excerpt, adapt, create derivative works and distribute” it. If you want to retain sole copyright of your writing, artwork or photography, DO NOT UPLOAD IT TO FACEBOOK.* What is currently uploaded now can be used in any way Facebook deems appropriate, including sublicensing it. As a member of Facebook, I have used it in the past as a social network to stay in touch with friends and family and only recently to market my work. I don’t have many images posted to my profile, but now that work has been sublicensed to Facebook forever. I never join a site without reading the terms. These new changes to the terms makes me so angry. I was never given an opportunity to opt out of the site before these changes went into effect. I feel as though I have been duped.

To distinguish them from bush crickets or katydids, they are sometimes referred to as short-horned grasshoppers. Species that change colour and behaviour at high population densities are called locusts. In popular culture / Aesop (620–560 BC), a slave and story-teller who lived in Ancient Greece told a tale called The Ant and the Grasshopper. In this tale, the ant worked hard preparing his shelter and stores of food all summer, while the grasshopper played. Once the winter came, the ant was prepared and the grasshopper, having no shelter or food begs to enter the ant’s house. The ant refuses and the grasshopper starves to death. The 1957 film Beginning of the End featured mutated giant grasshoppers attacking Chicago. “Grasshopper” is a term currently used in jest referencing a person who has much to learn. Its use originating from the television show Kung Fu (1972-1975) in which the student, Young Caine, portrayed by Radames Pera is taking instruction from his Master Po portrayed by Keye Luke who nicknamed his student “Grasshopper” as a term of endearment. In the 1998 movie A Bug’s Life, in an apparent homage to the Aesop fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper, where the heroes are the members of an ant colony, and the lead villain and his henchmen are grasshoppers, the lead villain is then eaten by a bird. The Japanese superhero franchise “Kamen Rider” originally had a grasshopper motif, with a grasshopper based helmet and costume. This was later toned down in favour of other motifs in more recent Kamen Rider series, though some features of the original hero remain (‘bug eyes’). LION’S SUNSET PHOTO BEST VIEWED LARGE. The month of March “came in like a lamb and went out like a lion!” You name it and you could have it – in terms of the weather, as we had everything from tornadoes to blizzards across the United States the last few days of March! This beautiful sunset was taken March 31, 2009, on the very last day of the month.* / Therefore I gave this photo (to the left) the title of: LION’S SUNSET. Information courtesy Wikipedia here Grasshoppers are insects of the suborder Caelifera in the order Orthoptera. To distinguish them from bush crickets or katydids, they are sometimes referred to as short-horned grasshoppers. Species that change colour and behaviour at high population densities are called locusts. Courtesy Wikimedia here The family Tettigoniidae, known in American English as katydids and in British English as bush-crickets, contains more than 6,400 species. It is part of the suborder Ensifera and the only family in the superfamily Tettigonioidea. They are also known as long-horned grasshoppers, although they are more closely related to crickets than to grasshoppers. Many tettigoniids exhibit mimicry and camouflage, commonly with shapes and colors similar to leaves. Tettigoniids may be distinguished from grasshoppers by the length of their filamentous antennae, which may exceed their own body length, while grasshoppers’ antennae are always relatively short and thickened. The males of tettigoniids have sound-producing organs (via stridulation) located on the hind angles of their front wings. In some species females are also capable of stridulation. There are about 255 species in North America, but the majority of species live in the tropical regions of the world. The diet of tettigoniids includes leaves, flowers, bark, and seeds, but many species are exclusively predatory, feeding on other insects, snails or even small vertebrates such as snakes and lizards. Some are also considered pests by commercial crop growers and are sprayed to limit growth. Large tettigoniids can inflict a painful bite or pinch if handled but seldom break the skin. The males provide a nuptial gift for the females in the form of a spermatophylax, a nutritious body produced with the males’ ejaculate. The eggs of tettigoniids are typically oval shaped and laid in rows on the host plant. My Images Do Not Belong To The Public Domain. All images are copyright © taiche. All Rights Reserved. BEST VIEWED LARGER If ever a place could be haunted this would be the place, now a historic site this site was a place of suffering and isolation ‘ Port Arthur was a prison, or convict settlement, from the…from 1830 through to 1877. It started off as a small logging camp, but in 1833 was expanded to become a full penitentiary. The main penitentiary is the building in the foreground, which was built later on. At its height, Port Arthur had about 1,600 convicts here, so it was a very large place. The convicts themselves – all men – actually described Port Arthur as being hell on earth. “They broke men’s spirits,” that’s their quote. I would say, simply, they drove a lot of men mad. Very unpleasant place. The site was self sufficient and could provide most items the prison needed. Easily the most imposing ruin on the site, the Penitentiary began its life in 1843 as a flour mill and granary. In 1857 it was converted into a penitentiary capable of housing over 480 convicts in both dormitory-style accommodation and separate apartments. Also containing a messroom, library and Catholic chapel, the penitentiary was flanked by the Watchmens’ Quarters, as well as a range of workshops and an ablutions complex. Gutted in the 1897 fires, the building lay derelict until a concerted conservation program began in the 1960s. My usual place, probably the same leaf, but a different spider each time. Northern Suburbs Crematorium and Memorial Gardens. (on the cusp of Chatswood / Ryde) NSW Canon 5D2 + MPE @ 5x / f/16, 1/200sec, ISO 1600 + ringflash 5171×3580 pixels @ 240dpi (cropped) After an initial hounding to move this little guy from the centre of the rose bush out to an accessible edge, perhaps it was due to my strong personality (or maybe the huge and dangerous looking lens I was holding) that this dude decided to let me get some closeups, before executing an elaborate 4 jump manouvre and vanishing completely. ps: I’ve already had one frightened viewer remark that this is a little creepy. I must point out that this spider was (at best) 5mm in total size. ie: TINY! so it was much (much) more afraid of the huge all-seeing eye at the end of a long lens than I was of it, so don’t panic unduly.
