An Interview with TeriLee TeriLee hosts the Abstract Digital Art and Writing Group. / ...................................................................................................................................................... How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? / ...................................................................................................................................................... This was a difficult question to answer. I pondered this for several hours, and the one thing I keep coming back to, is my children. I think after becoming a mother, I learned to use the creativeness that was instilled in me by my grandmother as a way of teaching my own children to express themselves. In my opinion, that is what is missing in so many peoples lives….some form of creative expression. I believe wholly that in life we rotate between two stages…one of creating and one of learning….kind of an input and output thing. I teach my children, when you are not creating, then you are learning. That type of thinking adds an artistic overtone to everything we do. Like watching TV (something I hate letting my kids do, but hate hearing the begging even more)…when we watch a movie, the kids are always looking at the way things are done, the lighting and shadows…not just mindlessly soaking up spongebob, but looking at how he was drawn, and the backgrounds and how the focus changes the feel of the show…at least for a few minutes before they turn into zombie-like creatures….it amazes me the pictures they come up with after watching a good sci-fi movie. I think more than being a part of my life…My pursuit of creativity has shaped who I am and how I raise my children, as well as, allowing me to explore who I want to be. / ...................................................................................................................................................... Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful / ...................................................................................................................................................... “linaji”:http://www.redbubble.com/people/linaji Without a hesitated thought, Becoming friends with Linaji , who has been an incredible friend and source of strength and inspiration for me. We are both woman going through an extreme period of transition. Her understanding and acceptance of the unique directions I take myself and my artwork has meant so much to me. We have become friends and sisters…not only sharing our time on the Bubble, but taking part in the joys and sorrows we both go through in our day-to-day lives. Lina and I both entered on a journey to experiment and learn new forms of artistic expressions through a blending of the written word and abstract digital art. This journey has been one of the most exciting trips I have ever taken, and it’s not over yet. / ...................................................................................................................................................... Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you.> Life’s Circles by *Robin Monroe Robin’s image is such a wonderful combination of media’s….she can do these amazing paintings and sketches, and then she adds a touch of her “digital magic”…and viola. This piece is very touching to me…the paths a person takes through life to get to where they need to be…I always saw those paths as straight…leading away from who we are…What I saw in Robin’s image was a beautiful way to express the circumference life….it reminded me that the choices I make now, will come back around to make me what I will become. Robin’s work is very philosophical and deep. Abstract of Purple Clematis belonging to lianne By hilarydougill I chose this image because it is one that shows a wonderful example of the friendships that come together to produce a masterpiece of art here in RB. Lianne’s beautiful image, made even more expressive through Hilary’s fantastic style for creating natural abstracts. MY POSSEE THE FREEDOM FLYERS by Linaji Linaji has a way of letting us all know that there is a place where we belong….This image is a perfect example of that feeling her art sends to me…Freedom in a world where I truly feel as though I am in important member of…The world of Linaji! splash of iris by aspectoftmk This is am image I see everyday hanging on the wall in my daughters room. The elegant beauty of Terri’s (aspectsoftmk) work is always shining through. The art she gives to the world is such a fantastic show of kindness and friendship. Terri is a woman with an amazing heart full of grace and wisdom, and that shows through directly into every image she produces. Deep into the Woods By Judi Taylor This image is as beautiful and mysterious as Judi herself. She is a woman of immense power and light. The images she captures are always full of hope and spirit. The path Judi walks is one of enlightenment and tolerance…I admire her for those reasons. Thank you TeriLee. “May you create well and prosper” AV

  • An Interview with RLHall

I interviewed Rhonda, RLHall ,as you know her. A fantastic artist and a wonderful woman…with really cute toes!! / How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? I think there are two wells of creativity within each of us, one springs from your soul and fills your work with your own impassioned inspiration, the other is conjured up in your mind and is brought forth through ideas and exploration. The two together, can be magical. I’ve always been pretty creative in anything I do. I tend to just think and react that way. So when it comes to dealing with other people or trying to get a job done, I automatically think of all the possibilities and try to come up with a combination that will accomplish what I set out to do. It’s really a type of creative problem solving, it makes it easier to deal with all of life’s ups and downs. And somewhere along the path a touch of inspiration joins in and soon you are on your way… I find myself encouraging others to use their creative powers, as well. Especially children – it’s amazing what the young mind and spirit can grasp, before it becomes stifled by rules and predjudices! I can’t imagine what life would be like if our creative instincts were so smothered that we just accepted everything at face value and never reached out to experience new horizons! Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful. When I first joined RedBubble, I was a little unsure of how I would fit in, it seemed to be just one big family, and I didn’t know anyone! And though I usually make a place for myself in any situation, I had never been involved in an online art community before. I think the very first person who really made me feel as if I belonged here was Mariam Muradian . Her words and artwork were so alive, and she just opened up her heart and poured forth such colorful encouragement that it just made me glow, and still does! Then I must mention my first sale, how amazing does that feel?! And I only just found out that the wonderful person who anonymously thrilled me to my very core by actually buying one of my photos, was my, then newly found, friend linaji . She never fails to inspire me with her images and words, along with her caring ways … Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you. pryere / Metal Tree 2 / This is one of the first photos of John’s that I was amazed by, he was one of the first people that started commenting on my work when I came to RB. His talent, sense of humour and uncanny ability to find the most unique and interesting subjects is awesome. He has offered his help unselfishly, and has my utmost respect. / Joanne Bradley / Circle of Life / Joanne has been one of the kindest and most supportive friends I’ve had here, her classy photos, and the ability to spot the most wonderful geometric shapes in nature is what drew me to her wonderful work. And this is my favorite from her portfolio. Her thoughtful and wonderfully written comments always brighten my day. / iCandor / Lost City / It was hard to choose just one of Vasile’s pieces, they are all so creative and magical, though this is one of my favorites. His gifted work, and way with words is constantly touching my soul. He has been a wonderful influence on me and my aspirations. / Marion Chapman / Etching – Viewing reconstruction of Ground Zero / Marion’s prints are amazing to me, her detailed work makes me curious about the artform, and in awe of her ability. Her mages of ground zero touched my heart and her support has been much appreciated. / ginnymac / Rainforest Red / Ginny’s cheerful support and sense of humour touches everything she does. Her wonderful work is always interesting and diverse, her talents are many, but I am especially drawn to her colorful and intricate paintings. / And last, but not least, I would like to warmly thank TeriLee for asking to interview me. I am honored and cannot say enough about her wonderful written and visual works, and her always amiable personaliy :-) And I would like to thank you Rhonda…It’s people like you that make RB such a wonderful place!!!!

  • The words were penned by TeriLee / in her writing entitled “We Are” – I found them to be, quite obviously, very inspiring!! I put her words to a little creation of mine and out came – a collaboration. Thank you for the words Teri… they are truly amazing :)

  • Linaji and TeriLee queried me this morning on how I felt in the moment of joining “Feminine Intent”, and although I wrote these words 16 years ago, I never felt them as strong as I do at this moment in time… Our power of generation is female, femine, matriarchal… Our roots come from survival and independence; Our branches break and regrow with reality and strength; Our leaves are resillient, as tears enlighten a new beginning; The newest seed of creative life within ourselves will cultivate / these elements into becoming a deeper root to our Earth Mother / with our female chain unbroken… tkrosevear 1992/2008 Sisters are Doin’ it

  • Oro Se Do Bheatha Abhaile TeriLee is a warrior. Her strength is never ending. I know her sisters will gather round her to support her when she needs to rest from the fight. We are the women warriors supporting each other with love and caring. For you TeriLee, Listen Sinead O’Connor performs Oro Se Do Bheatha Abhaile, a woman warriors song, a women’s call to arms. Sinead O’Connor says this about the song: / This song, for me, celebrates the return of any woman to her power, having lost it to invading forces. It is an honouring of the female warrior spirit and of the right of women to be true to themselves despite what the world dictates they ’should’ be. A song celebrating the preciousness of female ferocity, strength and fire. It shows that a suppressed spirit only creates loss and depression and that only by being one’s true self can one find joy… it is a war song in honour of Grace O’Malley otherwise known as Gráinne Mhaol, a warrior noblewoman of Ireland who lived at the time of Elizabeth I, and whose ships were a formidable force on the Irish west coast. Translation: Óró! You are welcome home! / Óró! You are welcome home! / Óró! You are welcome home! / Now that summer is coming Welcome Oh woman who was so afflicted, / It was our ruin that you were in bondage, / Our fine land in the possesion of theives, / And sold to the foreigners Grainne Mhaol is coming over the sea, / Armed warriors along with her as guard, / They are Irishmen, not English or Spanish, / And they will rout the foreigners May it please the God of Miracles that we may see, / Although we only live a week after it, / Grainne Mhaol and a thousand warriors, / Dispersing the foreigners
