early one morning in townsend, the fog was good and thick, so went driving around on some of our back roads, this is the gem i found :)
Morning sun filters through the trees at John Olivers Cabin with a few dogwoods in the background…The cabin is almost completly surrounded by split-rail fence also…...The Oliver’s bought land in the Cove in 1826 and this cabin site remained in the family until the Park was established. The house is typical of many found on the eastern frontier in the mid-1850s, and reflects the skills and techniques brought into the mountains by descendants of British and European immigrants. This cabin is located on the Cades Cove Loop Road, in the Great Smoky Mountain N.P.
I was out for a walk yesterday, when I spied these HUGE mushrooms!!! I thought at first (from a distance) that it was trash in someones yard. Upon close inspection… WOW!!! What a fun time I had photographing these!!! Due to the fact that it has been raining in the evenings, they were able to grow…. and as I lay in the grass to get some shots off, my daughter was quick to point out that there were mosquito’s EVERYWHERE!!!!!! AAAAAAAAA I’m covered in bites, and itching like crazy….. but hey, anything for the shot right???? Fire and water don’t usually mix, but in this case they seem to flow wonderfully together. Caney Fork River at the Rock Island State Park, Tennessee. (P.S. This is not a sunset photo. The color in the reflection is from the autumn leaves. It’s a little blurry because the water was moving).

Ruby Falls inside of Lookout Mountain in Tennessee near Chattanooga. / This was shot with a hand held camera at a normal shutter speed for outdoors. The flash of another camera lit the scene. Something to remember when you do not have a flash of your own…

Abstract photograph of trees reflected on moving water. / Taken on the Duck River at dusk; Henry Horton State Park, Tennessee. This abstract uses a little different technique in camera painting; rather than moving the camera to create the effect, I look for movement in nature and hold the camera steady during a slow exposure to capture the motion. I have also used this abstract as a background for my artwork Allow This image makes a great wall set with Sparkling Winter Garden / Copyright © Richard G.
