Piece Two in my HSC body of Work. The series in total is called “Ascendancy” which means domination or influincing figure, but also has connotations to the ascention of Mary in Christianity. Basically what i tried to do was to show how humanity’s expression of faith has changed, evolved, or even stayed the same. “The Temptation” refers to the temptation of Christ by the devil (40 nights in the desert, etc) Compressed Charcoal on Paper / size: approx. 80×40 cms I would like to thank the wonderful photographer who allowed me to use his brilliant photographs as references throughout the series: mehmet turgut . BEST VIEWED LARGER Avalon Beach is 3o kilometres from the Sydney CBD, it is part of the wonderful Northern Beaches in the area of PIttwater. FOr those visiting Sydney you can travel the Northern Beaches from Sydney by bus or car. Here you can enjoy surf beaches or the waters of Broken Bay. It’s my neighbourhood , cant think of a better place to watch the sunrise or set , a good chardonnay and fresh seafood. / In my goal to portray women in all guises and emotions, here is the latetst addition to the collection..”The Temptation”....we all know what the feeling…temptation comes in many disguises…is she the temptress, or has she been tempted?make of her what you will… / When I was halfway through painting it, I remembered a picture I had seen in a magazine advertising lipstick….the model had her fingers on the open lips…. I thought they would be a perfect addititon to the painting, but I needed to see them again, just to be sure…. I frantically dug through my recycling bin (luckily we are having a garbage strike and everthing is still here) and found the picture…..the fingers were just what I needed…it was apparent that the picture had been buried in my subconscious, just waiting to emerge in this painting….I made the modifications to the image and here it is Acrylic and watercolour on Fabriano Paper..
