This is actually the oldest piece I’ve posted in here. I did this back when I was a freshmen in college nearly ten years ago. Wow, was it really that long ago? Seriously? Holy crap, I’m getting old. Anyway, this thing was absolutely huge and I went though a a WHOLE LOTTA’ pencils while drawing it.
A brilliantly witty piece of stencil graffiti of the famous Monty Python Funny Walk sketch. It’s the one where the wonderful John Cleese is a civil servant in the Ministry of Silly Walks and true to his role stalks around his office in a series of increasingly daft walks. Someone has taken the time and effort to cut out a stencil of eight stages of the most iconic of the Silly Walks and then to go to a particularly unattractive and scruffy industrial area on Manchester to spray the stencil right at the bottom of a garage door. Very bizarre!
GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS / Photo best viewed large. / / / / / / FEATURED WORKS / “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” was FEATURED in the group #1 ARTISTS OF RED BUBBLE / / / I took this photo of Mammatus on a Good Friday before Easter in Ashland, Kentucky. The clouds first started rolling in and looked like fluffy white marshmallows. Then in front of the setting sun they dramatically began to change colors. They went from snow white to shades of silvers, pinks, grays, blues and even purples! The colors were quite striking and dramatic; these clouds were nothing like anything I had ever seen before! For a few minutes they turned very dark, and it was a sight I will never forget!! These amazing mammatus clouds lasted about 45 minutes before they exited my area. / / / We were under our second tornado watch of the year, and I found out later that I was standing right under the anvil of a severe thunderhead and that a tornado could have formed at any moment! Luckily for me it didn’t, and I was able to capture some phenomenal, amazing clouds. I can’t quite put it into words other than to say, “I closed my eyes for a few seconds and felt like I had been kissed on my cheek by an angel.” This was one time in my life that I will always remember!!! / / / This photograph of “GOOD FRIDAY MAMMATUS” has won National awards, been published in an Anthology, and has been shown on National television. This image is also featured in several websites and blogs throughout the USA and Australia for educational purposes. / / /
This is a blue version of Hive, a recent photo I made which was part of an experimental series showing the television screen seen through various objects used in the living room. This one is a macro shot of a bundle of drinking straws, aimed at the TV. Obviously, the screen was showing something blue! The actual straws measure less than 5mm in diameter. I used a shorter focal length for this one, and we can see more of the straws in it. For this one I hauled an old tv down to Shorncliffe jetty and took this 68 sec bulb exposure @ f16, then after I processed the shot I put the image into the tv and then again into the smaller tv and so on, similar idea to another shot I took called ‘Inner Storm’.

I’ve been planning this idea for a while – just waiting on the right telly to appear….but bensound beat me to the idea Oh well… This telly belonged to my husbands grandma who passed away last year. I’m sure she would have been looking down on me today having a good chuckle as I lugged the telly around Newcastle Baths.
Another from the telly’s trip to Newcastle Baths.
Different? My depiction of the mind of someone in personal struggle with society. The light and the dark, happy and sad, known and unknown. All of this moving with random thought processes, pop culture, gossip, media influence, culture clashes and a lot of the time, white noise to fill whatever silence is left. This is modern society. Confusing, confronting, intimidating and at times down right scary. Which way do we go? Title of this piece I have borrowed from one of my favourite songs: “..can I please have some silence. How about some space..“ / Mindcircus – Way Out West. City Of Melbourne Musuem. Not the one in Carlton, housing dinosaur bones and relics though. This is the nondescript one on Spring Street, in the old Treasury Building. It showcases the history of Melbourne as a city, from colonisation to today. This was taken in the vaults, underground. Which have been turned into an interactive journey through the gold rush days. This particular room had only a tv and light in it, both of modern look. The contrast grabbed my attention straight away. It had a spooky yet familiar effect on me. I didn’t know what to make of it, but I kept looking at it, unsure what to think or feel. Slight crop of original photo. Desaturated all and selectively coloured tv screen. Increased contrasted and brightness to achieve higher levels of mood.
