Jaffa, an ancient and beautiful city, is located in the south of Tel-Aviv. Jaffa is a mixed city with Jews, Christians and Muslims living together in harmony. The three arab women found a great place to sit, talk and relax while watching the Mediterranean Sea. The photo was taken on April 14, 2007.

Next to the busy Carmel Market entrance, this pedestrian’s walkway is jam-packed with street stalls. A festival of arts, crafts, pottery, and street performances, Nahalat Binyamin offers a pleasant stroll and some beautiful bits and pieces. Every Tuesday and Friday, vendors display their merchandise on little tables along the paved part of Nahalat Binyamin St. You can find jewelry, painted ceramics, special toys, lampshades, Judiaca and many more objects of different sort; there is quite a selection.

The Carmel Farmers Market (CFM), a growers-only market, isTel Aviv’s biggest and busiest marketplace filled with colorful stalls and shouting vendors selling a variety of goods, from dried fruits and exotic spices to clothing and footwear an exciting and bountiful place to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs and plants. Many vendors have their own songs, which tell you all about the price and quality of what is being sold. Sometimes one vendor sings against another in a competitive duet. The market runs into side streets, large and small, one side favoring dry goods, and the other dried beans, fruit, nuts, and spices in all colors and fragrances, sold from sacks. *
